The Enterprise Architects team is responsible for the following tasks:
- Improving the architecture organization in terms of processes, roles and
responsibilities; Extra attention is paid to the alignment between the business stakeholders and the architects, as well as the alignment of the architecture organization with the project organization.
- Deploy and monitor the target architecture with the necessary guidelines and guardrails
defined and applied within the different programmes and projects.
- To further evolve methodologies for architecture development, including architecture deliverables & artefacts, in function of needs and best practices. The first steps towards Agile Architecture have been taken, but this still needs to be carefully expanded.
- Use of architecture-relevant tooling with a focus on pragmatism and fit-for-purpose.
- Assisting in strategic and more substantive architectural business and IT issues.
Examples are: goal architecture, roadmap exercises, prioritization issues,
program and project studies, solution issues, architectural principles and guidelines,...
- Supervising the domain and solution architects within the various projects &
programmes.
- Supervising project and program managers in determining and defining the work packages.
- Drawing up and supervising growth plans for architects or potential architects.
- Organizing meetings with the entire architecture community to monitor the necessary coordination between the different architect roles and to share and discuss the necessary information among themselves.
- Aligning the IT strategy with the business objectives of the FPS Foreign Affairs and with the internal and external services (capabilities).
This includes:
- Het ontwikkelen van: Business Capability Model, Business Domain Model, Architecturale Visie & Roadmap, Target Architectuur, Architectural Runway, Data Modeling, Architecturale Tradeoff Analyse,
- Supporting the intended vision and portfolio from an Enterprise Business Architecture perspective
- Collaborative design of various initiatives:
- In the field of data and information management;
- in the field of information security;
- in terms of services for our Belgian citizens (e.g. passports, documents, support, etc.)
- in terms of services for our non-European visitors (e.g. Visas)
- in terms of cooperation with the customer's various partners.

Experience in role:
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant architecture experience - Expert, of which 3 years as an Enterprise Architect in a large enterprise
- Experience working in a federal public service is a plus
**Language**:
- Dutch-speaking or French-speaking with an excellent knowledge of the other national language (Dutch or French) and of English
**Location**:
- The task is carried out in the offices at 1000 Brussels, Rue des Carmelites, teleworking is occasionally permitted.
This assignment is a part time assignment of 4 days/week.
