**Your job**:
- Exercise clear leadership over the extrusion department (70 people) with one deputy and through a team of dedicated supervisors. Set clear expectations, measurements and standards of performance.
- Plan, organize and direct the extrusion manufacturing operations which ensure the most effective return on assets. Initiate plans and processes which minimize manufacturing costs through effective utilization of manpower, equipment, facilities, materials, and capital.
- Work closely together with the other operational departments (fabrication and packaging/shipping) in order to ensure smooth operations throughout the plant.
- Confer regularly with international sales and product management in order to assure a long-term development and growth of the extrusion department by meeting customer demands in production capabilities and competitiveness.
- Liaise effectively with all other functions on plant level (HR, maintenance and engineering, supply chain, purchasing, ICT,...) and assure the department’s needs are fulfilled. Coördinate manufacturing efforts and exchange best practices with other HYDRO extrusion plants inside and outside the Benelux.
- Work to establish management practices which continually improve the safety record by adressing both physical safety issues and employee safety attitudes. Maintain and improve housekeeping in all areas. Adress and improve the department’s environmental record and adherence to government regulations in coöperation with our HSE department.
- Implement innovative manufacturing strategies, action plans and quality management systems to ensure that the department supports HYDRO’s strategic initiatives and customer expectations such as Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, TPM, sustainability, zero emission, ISO,... with the support of a dedicated Process Engineer.
- Together with the HR Manager, encourage an effective human resources management by identifying the strengths and career goals of your team, developing a motivated and skilled workforce and aligning their efforts with the Hydro strategy. Participate in the works and safety council, and assure that collective bargaining agreements are reached and effectively administered, and that employee grievances are addressed in a timely fashion.
- Develop, present and maintain the annual department budget. Manage spending against budget and in relation to changes in production volume.
- Report to the Managing Director.
**Your profile**:
- Master’s degree in engineering and 10+ years proven manufacturing management experience in preferably a heavy industry / process industry environment.
- Strong leadership, managerial and coaching skills, ability to motivate at every level of the organisation.
- Excellent communicator, international and multi-cultural scope.
- Strong result orientation and a high level of personal accountability, ambition to take the extrusion operations to a world-class level, take ownership of the department.
