Flavor Research Analyst

The Flavor Research Analyst is responsible for analyzing the flavor composition of market products, flavors, emulsions, intermediates and flavor ingredients and for translating the obtained analytical data into creation suggestions as starting point for our Flavorists and provides analytical support to the business unit.

**Your key responsibilities**
- Performs extractions of incoming samples, analyses by GC-MS and provides a formula suggestion of the analysis results to the flavorist, respecting the predefined deadlines
- Ensures correct handling of acquired data and reports
- Ensures analytical/technical support to flavorists, technologists and internal clients (QC, PSRA,)
- Ensures analytical objectives in line with the lab needs and business strategy
- Performs analytical equipment maintenance
- Ensures safety, environmental and health rules are respected in the lab, as well as good laboratory practices
- Suggests analytical needs and method developments to improve the analytical methods and workflow

**You bring**
- A university degree or equivalent in sciences, highly focused on Analytical Chemistry
- Extended knowledge of GC-MS analyses including sampling preparation techniques such as liquid/liquid extraction, SPME, DHS. Additional knowledge of other (hyphenated/instrumental) analytical techniques such as LC, LC-MS,is a plus
- 3-5 years experience in (semi-)volatile organic compounds analyses, preferably in the field of flavor and/or food analyses
- Knowledge of flavor composition and other food analyses is a plus
- Knowledge of Agilent’s Chemstation/Masshunter software for GC-MS
- Interest in data interpretation development (PCA, deconvolution, macros) for data review automation, as well as in analytical method development
- Professional level of English, fluency in French or Dutch is a plus
