About the Position: Our client is experiencing rapid growth, and they are seeking a full-time Catering Instructor/Auditor to support training, auditing, stock takes, and troubleshooting at their offices and onboard client vessels. The primary responsibility will be representing the company while training catering crew on their standard operating procedures, focusing on safety, quality, variety, and waste management.
Key responsibilities will include training on cooking skills, menu planning, QHSE, and other maritime catering standards. You will work closely with internal departments, such as operations, crewing, and procurement, as well as clients, catering crews, suppliers, and captains, providing support where needed.
The role will be based in Antwerp, primarily at their Maritime Food Lab, with a 1-month on, 1-month off rotation. On average, you will conduct two to three week-long training courses per month, with other days dedicated to catering audits and stock counts for vessels in the Benelux region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead training sessions for campbosses, cooks, and stewards at their Antwerp office.
- Provide online training and coaching for campbosses/cooks onboard, particularly those who are new or underperforming.
- Analyze onboard situations, assist with new setups, and recommend required changes.
- Conduct technical screenings of catering positions for clients to ensure they meet their standards.
- Perform audits against maritime catering standards and generate audit reports.
- Conduct stock takes following company's standards and update the system accordingly.
- Build strong business relationships with clients.
- Stay updated on multicultural cuisines, supporting menu updates tailored to client and crew requirements.
What We Are Looking For:
- Fluent in English (professional level).
- Computer literacy (MS Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- 5+ years of experience in the maritime catering industry.
- Solid understanding of hygiene legislation and Health & Safety policies.
- Knowledge of MARPOL guidelines.
- Culinary degree in international cuisine (knowledge of other cuisines is a plus).
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Reliable, flexible, and capable of adapting to a non-9-5 work schedule.
- Stress-resistant, confident under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Independent and self-motivated.
- Valid driver’s license (B).
