To strengthen our Geology & Mining, based in Limelette, Belgium (for the first 6 months) and in Grenoble, France (relocation after 6 months), we are looking for a talented individual to fill the position of Junior Geologist.

About the role

As a Junior Geologist, you will report to the Geology Manager of Lhoist Southern Europe, and be part of the Geology & Mining team. You will engage in and supervise geological fieldwork at our sites, consolidate exploration database, develop geological models, and communicate results within the Mining Team. Your presence in the field will be pivotal in shaping the landscape of our mines, offering a hands-on experience that is both challenging and rewarding. You will be at the forefront of our quest for geological excellence, working closely with a dynamic team that values collaboration and practical solutions. You will grow professionally as a Geologist, learn the business of Lime Manufacturing and contribute to the sustainable mineral resource management and operational efficiency.

Your role and responsibilities:
- Be a role model for Safety: Provide active involvement in Lhoist Southern Europe Safety programs- Assist in the exploration and geological reconnaissance. This includes conducting field mapping, drilling, coring and geological units definition.- Update and maintain geological data bases.- Coordinate the geological field investigation - provide interpretation on the composition, structure, chemical and physical properties of limestone ore at the various Lhoist Southern Europe (France, Spain, Portugal) quarries and other field locations.- Based on the geological data interpretation, develop (or revise) the geological model for the assigned location.- Contribute to the Mining Team(s) in the development of the Resource estimations.- Provide technical support for resources acquisition efforts.- Procure and manage various consultants and contractors.- Develop knowledge of all geological issues and key quality parameters and how they affect product quality.- Contribute to quality optimization and improvement of natural resource utilization.

About you:
- Displaying our core values respect, courage and integrity with a safety-first attitude.- You are driven by action and you have strong team spirit.- Motivated and interested to work on the field: good balance between office and field work.- Proven international mindset with the ability to travel and/or relocate.- Willingness to learn and ultimately master geological modelling software (Leapfrog Geo and Edge) and GIS.- Strong analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to lead cross functional project teams.- Well versed in the identification and description of carbonate litho-facies.- Skilled in field mapping and measuring using conventional field instruments.- Physical condition that allows lifting weight (up to 30 kg)- Driving license (B) is required.- Languages: Professional fluency in French and English are must.
