**ECIT Foundation is looking for Interns**

ECIT (European Citizens rights, Involvement and Trust) is a think tank on European citizenship located near the European Parliament in Brussels.

One aim of the ECIT Foundation is to let young people take the lead with high profile projects. Do you believe it’s time young Europeans were given real responsibility and the chance to engage directly with EU officials, MEPs, the media and a wider circle of European partners? If so, joining our team could well be the answer.

We work on three different priorities:
**1. Citizenship Statute**

Since it was established in 2015, ECIT was alone in demanding and putting forward proposals for a Statute on European Citizenship, our attempt to codify and redefine the rights constituting what it means to be a European citizen. It is a success that the idea of a citizenship statute has now been supported by the European Parliament and the Conference on the Future of Europe. There is still a long way to go.

Our proposal “Making European Citizens” for a new ECI is developed with the idea to guarantee the freedom of Europe for every child. This European Citizens’ Initiative aims for a Europe of equal opportunity. In theory, young people have the freedom of Europe, but there is a gap between the fine principles of the law and the barriers to access. If one third of EU citizens have the civic education and skills to take advantage of Europe, the majority miss out.

To support these activities, we are looking for interns with skills in communication, advocacy & event organisation.
- **Communication & Administration**

Tasks:

- Management of the ECIT Foundation’s social media channels (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter) and of the Voters Without Borders ECI (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter);
- Management of the Foundation’s website;
- Assist with the drafting of press releases, flyers and other written materials;
- Mass-mailing of newsletters, event invitations and reminders;
- Outreach to media contacts and the press.
- Budget & other administrative tasks

Profile essentials:

- **Currently enrolled **in a pertinent degree programme (Communication, Marketing, Journalism or Political Sciences);
- Good understanding of and interest in EU policy;
- Graphic (Canva), mass-mailing (Mailchimp), social media management skills;
- Able to take initiative, work in team and independently;
- Excellent written and oral use English, any other European language is a plus;
- Proactive and motivated.
- **Advocacy & Events Organisation**

Tasks:

- Support the advocacy national strategies for ECIT;
- Maintain and create partnerships with NGOs and civil society organisations;
- Attend and report on external events;
- Assist with the organisation of events both online and in person;
- Assist with the drafting of press releases and the monthly newsletter.

Profile essentials:

- **Currently enrolled **in a pertinent degree programme (Political Science, International Relations or European studies);
- Good understanding of and interest in EU policy;
- Knowledge of the EU institutions and decision-making processes;
- Able to take initiative, work in team and independently;
- Strong communication skills;
- Excellent written and oral use of English, any other European language is a plus;
- Proactive and motivated.
