The Business Unit Belux is a very international environment to work in because out of the 4000 employees in belux quite a few of them have an international background, notably the numerous French colleagues. Furthermore, our BU belongs to the Northern European Zone which is headed by the UK (London). Last but not least, our BU is also in charge of
a 100% subsidiary (one of the 75 subsidiaries we have) called Flexcity, which is active not only in Belgium, but also in France, the Netherlands and even in Spain and Italy. Our BU (and thus also the Belux legal team) is responsible for those activities abroad
- a dutch subsidiary, called HCI, and
- a German subsidiary, called Sodi.
Veolia Belux is looking for Junior Legal Counsel
As an active member of the legal department for Veolia Belgium and Luxembourg, but generally under supervision of the General Counsel, the Junior Legal Counsel will be called upon to (i) be a legal advisor to the business in all aspects of its activities, including contract negotiation, litigation and risk management and (ii) participate actively in project development in conjunction and partnership with the commercial development teams. The role will relate to the Veolia’s group businesses primarily in the Belgium and Luxembourg, but may extend to France or the Netherlands.
KEY TASKS:
- Be an active and commercially minded force in contract reviewing and negotiations and generally all aspects of managing legal risks including litigation and in-house training;
- Propose win-win solutions which allow contracts to be concluded
- Respond (or prepare responses) in a timely, constructive and commercially minded fashion to requests of internal and external stakeholders;
- Preparing standard legal documentation;
- Participate in educating company personnel as to legal and other risk management considerations with a view to creating and fostering a broad risk management culture within the company;
**Qualifications**
- Master in law
- French, English ( Dutch is a plus)
