Reporting to the R&D Manager, the R&D Project Leader is responsible for the support & development activities of our 2 production sites in Chaineux (Belgium) and Kolo (Poland). The function is based in Chaineux (Liege), with some travel requirements (+/- 20%) Function: - Research projects/ programs : Define and detail research projects and/ or programs based on a full understanding of the identified requirements; Propose short-term adequate solutions to internal/external customers and contribute to the long-term strategy of the Business Unit; Explore new step-change development opportunities; Insure production support (raw material, process ) - Projects execution : Execute research projects/ programs in order to meet objectives defined with internal & external customer, respecting deadlines and budgets; Manage cross-functional communication in order to achieve the different stage of the project - Communication and reporting : Thoroughly document all relevant data and communications; Communicate concisely advances in research projects/programs to the SBU R&D community and to the respective project/ program teams; Highlight key accomplishments and achievements of research projects/ programs to the larger Saint-Gobain R&D community to promote and stimulate multi-business and transversal development projects/programs; Present scientific output to a multi-disciplinary audience and highlight key findings to internal/external customers. - Scientific output: Generate scientific information in order to demonstrate the knowhow and expertise of the R&D department to the Business Unit and internal/external customers, and assure a solid IP. - Exhibit safety awareness and safe work practices
**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS**:
- You hold a PhD in Chemistry, preferentially in Polymer Chemistry & Physics, or equivalent. Experience in silicone foam chemistry/ physics - Minimum 3 years’ experience in a R&D project management function - You are Fluent in French and English (spoken, written, read) - You are willing to work in an international context within multi-disciplinary teams - You have strong networking & communication skills in order to interface with a wide range of individuals (internal/ external) and to achieve results by leadership and cooperation - You are a structured and self-motivated individual who can lead innovation driven projects and support to operation projects, meaning; develop, plan, execute and orient the scientific research/ project according to BU/ customer needs with the respect of environmental, security and quality rules. - You are computer literate - You are ok with travel requirements (20%)
