The Senior Analyst, EU Advocacy & Research, will — alongside the Head of EU Affairs — represent Crisis Group at the European Union and its member states. The Senior Analyst will support the full range of EU research and advocacy activities, serving as a liaison between Crisis Group’s program staff and the EU. They will also produce high-quality research, analysis and writing on EU foreign and security policy related to conflict prevention, mitigation and resolution.

**Responsibilities**:

- Develop and define advocacy strategies to influence EU and member states decision-making, and identify relevant advocacy hooks and opportunities;
- Lead advocacy meetings with officials in the EU institutions and member states in Brussels, and occasionally in EU capitals, on policy issues covered by Crisis Group; develop and maintain advocacy networks;
- Manage advocacy itineraries for Crisis Group program staff during their visits to Brussels and EU capitals;
- Disseminate analyses and information on policy developments on EU common foreign and security policy to Crisis Group field and advocacy staff, ensuring maximum internal awareness of EU debates and activities, and its adequate reflection in Crisis Group publications;
- Provide EU policy advice and thematic research support to field and advocacy staff on issues relevant to Crisis Group’s activities in conflict prevention and resolution, notably on Crisis Group’s products addressed to the EU;
- Draft written material on conflict issues and European policies as directed and contribute to occasional papers and commentaries for publication;
- Support the implementation of EU-funded projects in policy and research terms, and carry out administrative duties as required; contribute to the regular tracking and monitoring of EU-project outputs;
- Support the coordination of the EU Research and Advocacy Team with Brussels-based NGOs and CSOs engaged on conflict prevention and peacebuilding;
- Supervise the EU Advocacy Researcher and one EU Research and Advocacy intern.

**Requirements**:

- A degree in European studies, conflict studies, political science, international relations or similar;
- Minimum five years of professional experience in EU advocacy or policy environment and/or in the field;
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of EU foreign policy and related institutions;
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a strong capacity for effective teamwork;
- Strong oral and written communication skills, and a track record of writing policy papers and memos;
- Excellent administrative and organisational skills and an ability to pay close attention to detail;
- Fluency in English and French required;
- Authorisation to work in the EU.
