About the European Climate Foundation
The European Climate Foundation (ECF) was founded in 2008 as a major philanthropic initiative to help tackle climate change by fostering the development of a net-zero greenhouse gas society at national, European and global levels. We support over 1000 partner organisations to carry out activities that contribute to the public debate on climate action, drive urgent and ambitious policy in support of the objectives of the Paris Agreement and help deliver a socially responsible transition to a net-zero emissions economy and sustainable society in Europe and around the world.

About the role
Building on the outputs of the ‘Integrity Matters’ report from the UN High Level Expert Group on Net Zero, the ECF pillar working on finance and a net zero macroeconomy is seeking a senior associate to support the Advisor on accountability and integrity.
The Senior Associate would provide take grant-related leadership, including on a portfolio on a newly evolving space on corporate accountability related topics. This would include working closely other ECF teams on a collective impact strategy, including with the climate finance team and with operational teams and external consultants. It would also include supporting the Advisor on accountability and integrity to explore new areas of alignment across ECF teams in the EU and internationally, and also support building new communities of leadership across grantees and in collaboration with the funders community.
This role would require a highly collaborative, proactive, and efficient approach, and would provide an opportunity to shape new thinking related to accountability and integrity related topics.
Key responsibilities
As part of the ECF pillar on finance the net zero macroeconomy, the Senior Associate will be responsible for:
- Grant-making: strategic leadership on new and renewal grants related to corporate accountability topics, working closely with other ECF teams (especially climate finance) on joint ventures, as well as working with the grants hub and comms team, and with external consultants.
- Strategic thinking and relationship building: seeking out new opportunities and areas for alignment on topics related to accountability and integrity.
- Community building: working with the funder community to support information sharing on corporate accountability topics.
**Requirements**:
Experience and competencies
- Demonstrated interest in the mission and values of the ECF;
- Experience of working on project management, budgets, advocacy, policy analysis or campaigning in an environmental, or other relevant area;
- A flexible and curious approach with
attention to detail, and a proactive spirit;
- Excellent project management skills, including an ability to plan and execute projects from start to finish, e.g. identifying tasks and subtasks, setting deadlines, identifying and anticipating problems and elevating the where necessary for quick resolution.
- Interest (and ideally experience) on topics related to accountability and integrity;
- Excellent spoken and written English;
- Flexibility; ability to work independently and to prioritise tasks in a fast-moving work environment;
- Ability to prioritise tasks and manage competing deadlines;
- A desire to work collaboratively as part of a virtual team, with an interest in fostering fruitful relationships and to collaborate with stakeholders internally and externally;
- The disposition to work with colleagues in a high-trust international community of peers with a spirit of generosity, humility and mutual support.
