Jan De Nul Group is a market leader in dredging and marine works as well as a specialised provider of services for the offshore market. The Group is also a major player in civil engineering, environmental and brownfield development projects. To support this variety in activities, we are looking for QHSSE Advisors, based at our offices in Aalst.
As a **Vessel Vetting Advisor **you will be responsible in supporting the Vetting Team in day to day operations and be responsible for the support of the vetting process within the Jan De Nul Group Third Party (Chartered) vessels.
- Perform vessel vetting (onboard) of third party vessels hired by Jan De Nul. You will make sure that these vessels comply with both the internal standards and requirements as well as with international maritime regulations. You will play an important role in assuring the quality and safety of the vessels we use on our projects.
- Verify compliance with international maritime law, certification and maintenance of the vessel (e.g. ISM, SOLAS, MARPOL,...)
- Collect and analyse documentation (certificates, service reports, external inspection reports,...)
- Provide advise on possible risks and improvements or necessary corrective actions in the safety and operational area.
- You are willing to travel for short period of time.
- Planning, coordination and follow-up of external inspections on board of our own fleet such as CMID, OVID, USCG, external client and other inspections.
- Preparation: Planning of the inspection and collection of the required documents and information.
- Organisation: Follow up of the logistics and act as intermediary between vessel and inspector.
- Coordination: Provide support before and during the execution of the inspection.
- Follow up: Processing any possible findings and initiating corrective actions that were agreed upon between the responsible persons.
- Update, check and maintain the OCIMF Vessel Particulars Questionnaires (OVPQ), the IMCA Vessel Particulars (CMID) and the OVID & CMID databases as appropriate.
- Assist with required vetting statistics.
- Assist in the preparation and data collection for OVMSA audits and for various client bidding questionnaires in close cooperation with the Marine Verification QHSSE Coordinator.
- Assist in reviewing procedures and instructions related to the Companies Vessel Management System.
- QHSSE advisory related to maritime related topics.
**Profile**:
- Master’s degree in nautical sciences or equal by experience
- Experience on board of vessel is a benefit
- You speak fluently English
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- You work from our offices in Aalst and are willing to travel regularly to vessels in Belgium and abroad.
