The Research Institute of Organic Agriculture FiBL is one of the world’s leading institutes in the field of organic agriculture with around 400 employees. It is located in Switzerland, Germany, Austria and France and a representation in Brussels (Belgium). The strengths of FiBL lie in its interdisciplinary research, innovations developed jointly with farmers and the food industry, solution-oriented development projects and rapid knowledge transfer from research to practice. For our representation in Brussels we are looking for a
Managing director to head FiBL Europe. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, you will be responsible for the thematic and organizational development of the institute in Brussels. Furthermore, you will be responsible for internal communication within the FiBL network and represent FiBL on the European stage. Your remit will include active participation in national and international technical bodies and commissions and maintaining relations with European institutions. In addition, you will ensure a sustainable business activity.
For this versatile position, you hold a university degree, if possible with a scientific track record, as well as several years of management experience. You are familiar with organic agriculture and European food systems and regard yourself as a person who cultivates a practice-oriented approach and thinks and acts systemically and economically. You are an experienced networker, preferably within the European food sector and Brussels’ political scene. Your empathetic nature and convincing manner make you a leader of integrity who appreciates working with other people from different cultural contexts. We expect you to have excellent communication skills in at least two languages (in particular English, French or German) and a goal-oriented and structured way of working.
