Due to its growth, Zurich Insurance Benelux is looking for a Marine Underwriter to strengthen the team and our organization. Are you looking for a next challenge in Underwriting? If so, we would love to hear from you. The role is based in Antwerpen, Belgium.
**The opportunity**
In this role you will be joining a team that is expanding due to Zurich growth and you will report into the Underwriter Marine Manager. As a Senior Marine Underwriter you will analyse and underwrite new and renewal marine combined business, regularly interacting and facing the market.
To analyze and underwrite new and renewal business, under limited direction, utilizing You will be required to underwrite in line with The Zurich Way of Underwriting Framework within delegated authority levels on highly complex assignments, ensuring a high level service to customers.
**What will you be doing?**
- Seek, develop and maintain relationships with brokers in support of new business and retention goals.
- Proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities.
- Make broker/customer and on-sight calls with a planned and well-prepared purpose.
- Cross-Sell other lines of business to increase the organization's product density with the account.
- Complete detailed opportunity assessment with key distributors to identify growth opportunities
- Underwriting and pricing of marine trade combined policies with negotiation of terms and price to fit Zurich’s underwriting appetite.
- Provide technical expertise for short-term, defined scope projects.
- Monitor underwriting processes in order to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Coordinate, follow up and process all administrative requirements regarding your customers and contacts where you work in a well-arranged manner with and on your files
- Process data, analyze information and fact find consolidation to result in accurate decision making
As well as the ‘business as usual’, you will also have the opportunity to support Underwriting projects. Development is important to us so not only will we invest in you, but you will also have the chance to coach and mentor our junior underwriters.
**What are we looking for?**
As an experienced underwriter, we would expect you to have the following skills and experience but the main thing we are looking for is the drive to succeed, a team player, a great attitude, change-fit and help us on our continued journey of success and growth
- Preferably master degree (Economics, Business Law) or equivalent by experience.
- A Team Player that inspires, share knowledge and experience with junior members.
- 3+ years’ experience in the marine insurance market.
- Fluent in Dutch & English. French is a plus.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal colleagues and external customers and brokers.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of the insurance industry and the legal and regulatory environment.
- Knowledge of insurance performance and financial metrics.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Skills in relationship building, active listening, needs analysis and win-win negotiating.
- Presentation skills and a solutions and service orientation.
