**Government Relations Specialist**

In this role you will have the opportunity to monitors and complies with legislative and regulatory issues that may impact the business in the EU, country of assignment or international region.

**About the role**:
Working in close collaboration with the Government Relations and Partnerships Leader and government relations team you\'ll be involved in providing the support with research and document drafting. **You will also be**:

- Monitors and complies with legislative, regulatory, trade, and public affairs issues in the EU, country of assignment, or international region at all levels of government.
- Undertakes special research projects as requested by the Manager or Director, prepares white papers and other documentation of current legislative and regulatory issues that may impact the business.
- Drafts summaries of new laws, regulations, and interpretations; distributes summaries and new laws, regulations, and interpretations to Manager and/or Director and prepares draft presentations of pending and new legislation and regulations for presentation to business leaders.
- Prepares draft responses for governmental departments and legislative staffs that clarify the organization’s position on proposed legislation or regulations.
- Schedules and plans lobbying meetings and events and coordinates meetings and events with highest levels of Cummins’ leadership.
- Tracks filing or reporting deadlines for political action committees or lobbying efforts.
- Develops an understanding of government operations and lobbying practices and focus
- Develops government contacts that will benefit the organization’s business and community goals;
- Develops strong internal contacts across all functions and business units;
- Develops contacts in states and localities with large Cummins’ presence;
- Maintains logs, databases, and other tracking tools for the department; develops expert skills in using technology to assist with job duties.
- Complies with all laws, regulations, and ethical concerns within area of jurisdiction and broadly across the organization.

**Qualifications**

**About you**:
You will ideally have government relations experience within an international environment, however if you enjoy and can evidence a high level of attention to detail, resiliency, and strong communication skills along with an interest in developing the career in government relations in the international environment, we’d love to hear from you. Here are some of the other skills and competencies we’d like you to have:

- BA degree in in Political Science, Law, International Relations and Affairs or other relevant discipline;
- MA and (or) MBA degree in the Political Science, Law, International Relations and Affairs is a plus;
- Previous internships in political science and (or) government relations within the industrial companies;
- Professional experience in political science and (or) government relations within automotive, transportation or energy industries is a plus;
- Experience in working within the automotive / heavy machinery markets and other highly regulated industries;
- Fluency in English, as this is our main business language, along with any other languages (French language is preferable);
