Janssen Research & Development, LLC., a member of the J&J Family of Companies, is recruiting for three Grant Expert Senior Manager positions to be located on site in either our New Jersey, Pennsylavania, Belgium or Netherlands offices.

Governmental funding and public-private partnerships (PPP) have become increasingly important in the healthcare sector. The R&D Global Government Grant Office (G3O) is established as a Center of Excellence of dedicated J&J business partners to help secure and enhance external funding and collaboration opportunities for Janssen in order to advance products in our pipeline and offer treatment solutions for unmet medical needs to impact and improve the lives of patients everywhere. G3O will help to ensure consistency and compliance in contracts & grants across the organization for the benefit of Janssen and Johnson & Johnson and its external partners.
Acting on behalf of Johnson & Johnson pharmaceutical, medical devices and consumer operating companies, G3O is responsible for ensuring efficient and compliant end to end contracting with PPPs, including U.S Government entities such as National Institutes of Health, Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA), various agencies within the US Department of Defense, EU funding agencies including Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI), Horizon 2020, other national funding and also Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) such as Bill & Melinda Gates, Wellcome Trust, Michael J. Fox Foundation and others.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Support the G3O Focus Area Leads and assigned Focus Area Trio Team in the identification of Contract/Grant opportunities aligned to the J&J Business Partner identified priorities. Support may include the identification of benefits and obligations, specific rules, internal procedures associated with the various funding instruments/sources.
- Lead the External Funding Stakeholder (ExFT) Team in proposal development and grant writing. This may include efforts associated with development of technical, non-technical and cost proposals, negotiation of terms & conditions and support of the contract transition activities from the G3O Front Office to the JJHCS Government Contracts team.
- Support the management of proposal and contract data in JForce, G3O’s proposal data source; upload all required proposal documents in VeevaVault
- Keep track of project submission timelines and deadlines and coordinate the process to meeting the delivery/submission dates
- Support the assigned G3O Front Office Trio Team in the review of solicitation and calls related to other Focus Group area
- Ensure that the business partners understand the contractual obligations, in collaboration with other G3O partners (e.g. Legal, IP, Funding Type Expert and Proposal Coordinator)
- Support the signature process of Engagement Forms, for which the Business Partner, Business Liaison and/or Negotiator have a leading role
- Communications to project teams and G3O leadership
**Qualifications** Education**:
- Minimum of bachelor’s degree is required. Study in the areas of Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Medical, engineering or related is preferred.
- An advanced degree or focused degree in business management areas such as Finance, Accounting, Operations is preferred.
**Experience and Skills**:
**Required**:
- A minimum of eight years total business experience in either Government or Commercial or R&D Contracting.
- A minimum of five years of government experience.
- A minimum of three years of working experience in Pharmaceutical and/or Medical Devices Industry is required.
- Experience in Pharma/Biotech/MedTech or academic research or R&D Contract Management is required
- Minimum 4 years of project/program management experience (PPP/Government R&D contracting project management) is required.
- Experience with organizational complexity involving various functional collaborators is required.
- Shown ability to address then resolve issues by communicating difficult information tactfully and diplomatically is required.
- The ability to collaborate effectively with all levels of the organization/management and influence decision-making across matrix organizations and outside J&J is required.
- A strong understanding of analytic tools including Excel is required
**Preferred**:
- Experience in the life sciences, R&D, compound development, product development or similar scientific related research would be desired.
