The Corporate Legal department of the SD Worx group (Headquarters in Belgium) is seeking a full-time in-house legal counsel (company lawyer) to manage the corporate legal services for Belgium and the Netherlands.

You will be part of a team that provides advise to the business of the SD Worx group (a worldwide Payroll and HR services provider) on a wide range of legal questions, with a focus on commercial law, contract law and IT law. You report directly to the Head Counsel. The current corporate legal team works from Belgium (HQ), Germany, Sweden and United Kingdom and consists of 11 legal counsels.

**Which key responsibilities will you have?**
- Coordinate the corporate legal services for Belgium and the Netherlands.
- Coach and inspire a team of 3 dedicated in-house legal counsels.
- Give sound yet clear, cost-effective and highly practical legal advice in order to support SD Worx management, operations and sales, to help ensure legal compliancy.
- Proactively share legal knowledge on all aspects of the SD Worx business.
- Create and update legal templates and best practices in line with corporate guidelines.
- Review and negotiate a wide range of customer agreements, supplier agreements and partnership agreements.
- Provide legal support for the effective handling and successful resolution of disputes.
- Ensure compliance with national and European law through monitoring, interpreting and advising on current and new relevant legislation and case law.
- Actively contribute to the communication and implementation of the legal policies, templates, guidelines and processes and to the establishment of training material and training in this regard.
- Actively contribute to the development and implementation of the SD Worx strategic, business and operational plans.
- Actively manage the SD Worx’ Corporate Legal team’s objectives and coordination.
- Actively manage the continuous improvement of the legal department.
- Actively establish the corporate legal department of the future, including the digitalization of the legal department.
- Organize the selection of and manage cooperation with external advisors/experts.

**What do you need for this role?**
- A university degree in law obtained in Belgium.
- 10+ years’ experience as an attorney and/or as an in-house legal counsel (preferably within an international company) with a focus on 1 or more of the following areas of law: contract, commercial, ICT.
- Natural leader with experience in managing a small team of legal counsels or the ambition to coach and inspire a team.
- Effective communication skills in Dutch, French and English (orally and in writing) - good knowledge of other languages is considered to be an asset.
- Excellent organizational skills that allow you to plan and prioritize your projects.
- First-rate analytical, negotiation and contract drafting skills.
- Be business oriented with a passion to transform legal complexity into pragmatic advice.
- Hands-on and can-do mentality.
- The ability to deal with complex issues and to take responsibility for difficult decisions.
- Combine a risk-conscious working style with a no nonsense and goal-oriented attitude.
