A-PECS at the Department of Bioscience Engineering in the Faculty of Science** of the University of Antwerp (Belgium) **is looking for a **full-time (100%) **doctoral scholarship holder** in** **a**dvanced data and profile processing **in electrochemistry**.**

The overall goal of this PhD is the development of advanced data models to extract qualitative and quantitative information from electrochemical data. These data models will improve the state-of-the-art in (bio)electrochemical sensing, to make an impact in e.g. cancer diagnosis, on-site illicit drug sensing and infectious disease diagnostics. It is crucial that the information extracted from the electrochemical data is maximized to achieve high accuracies.

**Position**
- You prepare a doctoral thesis in the field of _advanced data processing in electrochemistry_.
- You develop on-site sensors and interact with end-users to optimize the sensors.
- You dive into electrochemical data.
- You publish scientific articles related to the research project of the assignment.
- You present your work at national and international workshops and conferences.

**Profile**
- You hold a master degree in_ chemistry, bioscience or applied engineering_, forensic sciences, computational sciences _or a relevant degree for the position.
- Experience with software, script or app (development).
- You can submit outstanding academic results.
- Your academic qualities comply with the requirements stipulated in the university’s policy.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- A creative and analytical mind.
- In view of the international context, mastering of the English language (both oral and written) is mandatory.

**What we offer**
- A doctoral scholarship for a period of one year, with the possibility of renewal after positive evaluation;
- The start date of the scholarship can be discussed, ideally September 1, 2024;
- You will do most of your work at Campus Groenenborger in a dynamic and stimulating working environment.
