European Aluminium, founded in 1981 and based in Brussels, is a member-based industry association representing Europe’s most complete and thriving metals value chain.
Our 100+ members include primary aluminium producers; downstream manufacturers of extruded, rolled and cast aluminium; producers of recycled aluminium and national aluminium associations, representing more than 600 plants in 30 European countries.
We are looking for a full-time Environmental Officer - Building. This role is responsible to support the team developing further the sustainability activities for aluminium used in buildings.
The main tasks will be the coordination of internal projects with member companies, sustainability advocacy towards European and International standardisation bodies, management of European Aluminium Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) programme.
**Reporting**:the selected person shall report to the **Director Engineered Products & Business Development** and will cooperate with other colleagues with expertise in Technical Standards and LCA.
Main tasks and duties
- **Coordination of internal projects**
- Further develop our sustainability action plan
- Propose and coordinate sustainability-related projects
- Identify opportunities and threats
- Develop dynamic communication with experts from member companies
- Manage and improve the Environmental Product Declarations Programme of European Aluminium: modelling, reviewing and organise third-party verification
- **External advocacy**
- Promote aluminium recyclability credentials in standards and legislations
- Represent European Aluminium in other associations we work with: Metals for Buildings, Eco Platform, Construction Products Europe,
- Contribute as an expert to the European environmental assessment methodologies of buildings and construction products: LCA methodologies including EN 15804, circularity indicators and Level(s)
- Contribute to the development of position papers and infographics
Knowledge, experience, interests and skills
- Engineering or environmental science degree
- Good communication skills in English, both oral and written. The knowledge of additional languages would be an asset, particularly German or Dutch.
- Previous knowledge of standards EN 15804 and EN 15978, LCI databases, LCA and EPD software would be highly appreciated.
- The European Aluminium office is in Brussels.
