To expand its expertise BRIGHTcore is looking for an enthousiastic (gen)omics bioinformatician.

**What the role entails**:

- Development of new analyses pipelines, continuous development/implementation of new features in existing pipelines
- Validation of code/pipeline/tools within our accredited diagnostic environment
- Initiating and maintaining contacts with internal and external partners to analyze and realize their bioinformatics needs
- Manage your own projects, communicate with all stakeholders, regularly present your progress
- Possibility to initiate health care related bioinformatics research on the VUB-UZ Brussel Health campus.
- Possibility to supervise PhD and master students as well as researchers

**Who are we looking for**:

- You have a PhD in a relevant field or master’s degree with at least 4 years of equivalent work experience in the field of bioinformatics.
- You have demonstrable experience with the data analysis of at least one omics technology (genomics, transcriptomics, epigenomics,...).
- You have experience with at least one of the following languages: Python, R or perl.
- You are used to work in a UNIX environment and familiar with Bash
- If you have the following skills, it would be a plus:

- relational databases
- analysis of long-read sequencing data
- structural and copy-number variant detection in genome and exome data
- workflow management systems

- You have an excellent knowledge of English, a good knowledge of Dutch is a plus given the Dutch-speaking nature of the organization.
