**OVER DE UGENT**
De Universiteit Gent is een van de belangrijkste onderwijs

**OPDRACHT**
In de Faculteit Bio-ingenieurswetenschappen is een voltijds ambt van docent (tenure track) of hoofddocent ter beschikking in de vakgroep Biotechnologie in het domein van de productie van biologicals. Achtergrondinformatie m.b.t. het loopbaanbeleid van zelfstandig academisch personeel en de functieniveaus kan teruggevonden worden via deze link.
De kernactiviteiten zijn academisch onderwijs, wetenschappelijk onderzoek en wetenschappelijke dienstverlening binnen het domein van de bioproductie. Er wordt verwacht dat de kandida(a)t(e) dit domein invult met een multidisciplinaire en praktijkgerichte aanpak, met aandacht voor samenwerking met de industrie. Het domein van de bioproductie is een snel ontwikkelend veld waar techniek en biologie samenkomen om met behulp van bio-gebaseerde processen een breed scala aan moleculen te produceren voor een diversiteit van toepassingen. Deze vacature focust in het bijzonder op de productie van biologicals voor de gezondheidsindustrie. De regio Gent en bij uitbreiding Vlaanderen blinkt uit in de ontwikkeling van biologicals (gebaseerd op antilichamen, mRNA, peptiden, enzymen en andere biomoleculen) en heeft bijgevolg een sterke nood aan de ontwikkeling van state-of-the-art bioprocestechnieken en sterk opgeleide studenten in dit domein.
**Academisch onderwijs**
U doceert verschillende opleidingsonderdelen in het domein van de biochemie en bio(proces)technologie. Lessen worden gedoceerd in de opleidingen tot BSc in Biowetenschappen en MSc in Industriële wetenschappen: biochemie. Afhankelijkheid van het opleidingsonderdeel is de doceertaal Nederlands of Engels.
**Wetenschappelijk onderzoek**
U bouwt innovatief, toegepast en multidisciplinair onderzoek uit in het domein van de bioproductie specifiek gefocust op grootschalige productie van biotherapeutica om tegemoet te komen aan de groeiende noodzaak om dergelijke moleculen ook succesvol en rendabel te produceren en te verwerken tot een eindproduct. We verwachten dat u het onderzoeksgebied ontwikkelt volgens de nieuwste innovaties en financiering verwerft voor de opbouw van een nieuwe onderzoeksgroep. Het onderzoek wordt uitgevoerd in samenwerking met onderzoekers binnen de vakgroep en de UGent, maar ook in een nationale en internationale context. We verwachten dat de onderzoeksexpertise en -visie van de succesvolle kandidaat complementair is aan de expertise aanwezig in de vakgroep.
**Wetenschappelijke dienstverlening**
U werkt mee aan de interne en externe dienstverlening van de vakgroep Biotechnologie. Er wordt verwacht dat u faculteits
- en universiteitsbrede verantwoordelijkheden opneemt die de eigen onderzoeksgroep overschrijden en actieve samenwerkingen met de relevante industrie ambieert.

**Kennis/ervaring**
- U heeft reeds hoogstaand wetenschappelijk onderzoek verricht in het opgegeven vakgebied zoals blijkt uit publicaties in kwaliteitsvolle wetenschappelijke tijdschriften en boeken met peer review; of uit patenten of andere vormen van succesvolle innovatie in de bedrijfswereld
- U bent in staat om wetenschappelijk onderzoek te initiëren en te begeleiden en hiervoor de nodige fondsen te verzamelen, of bent binnen een industriële context actief geweest in fondsenwerving voor R&D;
- U heeft ervaring met inter
- of multidisciplinair onderzoek en met het begeleiden/coachen van medewerkers binnen en buiten een onderzoeksgroep of in een industriële context;
- U beschikt over didactische vaardigheden die gericht zijn op het ontwikkelen en realiseren van academische competenties bij universiteitsstudenten, en heeft concrete ideeën om een praktijkgerichte focus te implementeren in de opleiding tot industrieel ingenieur biochemie;
- Strekken tot aanbeveling:
- Professionele ervaring in de bioprocestechnologie
- Internationale mobiliteit o.m. door onderzoeksverblijven in onderzoeksinstellingen extern aan de instelling waaraan de hoogste academische graad werd behaald;
- Positief geëvalueerde ervaring met verstrekt en/of georganiseerd onderwijs op academisch niveau (zoals bv. blijkt uit studentenevaluaties;
- Activiteiten ondernomen binnen onderwijsprofessionalisering of opleidingen/kennisoverdracht verzorgd binnen een industriële context;
- Een (internationaal) netwerk van onderzoekscontacten en samenwerkingen.
