Assistant Controller

**Purpose of the position**:
Support the Benelux region with relevant financial and other relevant information for decision making, spanning historical, current, and future performance. Support Kalmar Finance organization in implementing and developing activities relevant to this area. This role is a starter function within Kalmar which aims to support the Business Controller in his/her tasks and to develop the skills and knowledge of the (assistant) controller in such a way that he/she can, in due time, act as a (temporary) replacement of the Business Controller.
**Main tasks and responsibilities**:
- Work as a support to provide the financial business partner with relevant financial information, basic business reviews and analysis, and use this information to improve the planning, performance management, decision making and controlling processes
- Support the closing, forecasting, and actual reporting process in close cooperation with financial business partner and CBS. Check and analysis of actual, forecast, and budget
- Support the provision of financial accounting services and data on a timely and accurate basis
- Participation and contribution in common business control objectives of Kalmar Benelux
- Ensure a clean and reconciled balance sheet in cooperation with CBS
- Support external and Internal audit
- Cleaning admin backlog for compliance.
**What you’ll need to succeed**:
Education
- B.Sc on finance/accounting/etc
Experience
- Min. 2-5 years in accounting
Competencies
- SAP, Excel, Hyperion experience is a +
- Knowledge of Belgium financial rules and regulations on wages and taxes is a big +
- Strong collaboration/communication skills
- Dutch, English (French is a benefit)
- Strong analytical skills
- A drive to understand the business is a must for which affinity with technique is a big +
