Janssen Research & Development seeks to bring creative and effective treatments in six therapeutic areas: neuroscience, cardiovascular diseases and metabolism, infectious diseases, immunology, oncology and pulmonary hypertension. In these areas, Janssen aims to address and solve unmet medical needs through the development of small and large molecules, as well as vaccines.

**Qualifications**:
**Qualifications and Experience**:
- A PhD in synthetic organic or medicinal chemistry is preferred.
- Direct experience in leading significant medicinal chemistry teams is required.
- Expert knowledge of modern methods of synthetic and medicinal chemistry, with the ability to successfully conduct medicinal chemistry on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong problem-solving skills for developing creative and innovative solutions, as well as meeting project objectives.
- Demonstrated influence, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills, including the ability to succeed within a matrix environment.
- Track record of scientific contributions, including peer-reviewed publications in high impact factor journals, patents, and oral presentations.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with proficiency in English both verbally and in writing.
**Responsibilities**:
- Provide direct line leadership to a significant group of medicinal chemists and be accountable for coaching and developing the local talent base within the Beerse discovery chemistry organization.
- Contribute to managing and delivering the portfolio across multiple therapeutic areas, either by acting as a project leader or supervising project leaders.
- Collaborate with the Beerse chemistry leadership team to prioritize and progress the portfolio.
- Drive and implement initiatives within multidisciplinary teams to accelerate drug discovery projects.
