**Job Summary**:
We are seeking a highly motivated **Scientist** to join our **Discovery** site located in **Beerse**. He/she will be responsible for supporting discovery projects in the field of RNA-targeting small molecules as potential therapeutic strategies for neurological disorders.
**Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to)**:
- Lab-based role supporting _in vitro_ studies with biochemical and cellular assays and development of molecular and biological tools & assays.
- Independently design and plan experiments, execute, analyze and interpret obtained data.
- Report results in electronic lab book in a timely and accurate manner.
- Prepare presentations and present project updates internally and externally to all stakeholders.
- Be informed on the latest scientific advances in the field.
**The following are minimum requirements related to the Scientist position**:
- Master or PhD in relevant Neuroscience field with at least 2-5 years of relevant pharmaceutical or biotech industry/ lab/ academic experience.
- Knowledge and experience of a wide range of _in vitro_ biological techniques, such as iPSC work (incl. neuronal differentiation), molecular cloning, biochemical assays including RT-qPCR, SDS-PAGE/Western blot analyses.
- Significant experience with culturing immortalised cell lines or primary cell models.
- Proven track-record of scientific excellence in the field of Neuroscience as evidenced by a strong publication and/or patent record.
- Chemical biology background is an added value.
- Ability to effectively present scientific data and concepts to colleagues and teams is required.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with people, internally and externally.
- Meticulous attention to detail and strong record-keeping skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
