Senior Food Technologist

**NSF **focuses on food safety and quality for clients in catering, retail, etc. for which we offer services ranging from auditing to product development, training and legal compliance on national as well as European Level. Our headquarters are in Diegem.

We are currently looking for a **Food Technologist** (FR/ENG) to join our headquarters.

**PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITES**

The **Food Technologist** has the following main responsibilities, depending on the needs:

- Collect, establish and control (at the quality and regulatory level) technical data sheets or specifications or labeling/packaging of raw materials or finished products or recipes.
- The organization and participation in tasting panels at the client or externally.
- Quality management of the different private label product categories;
- Will be the link between purchasing departments and private label product suppliers;
- Will be the Quality reference for buyers and/or the quality departments of large retailers;
- Organization and participation in the development of new private label products and the quality control of products already in store, via tasting panels;
- Management of specifications (specifications) and labels on different IT platforms (Trace One, K.Retail, Traqtion ),
- Verification and validation of conformity of specifications, labeling and packaging, with respect to European and national legislation, and customer requirements.
- Follow-up of product improvements following non-conformities, complaints or new customer requirements;
- Participation in discussion groups on communication and product development, particularly from a nutritional and marketing point of view.
- Consulting and training within agri-food companies, both in terms of product development, process improvement, specification encoding and label creation/validation.
- Consulting in Belgian food regulations for several categories of products for different clients (agri-food industries or distributors)
- Active promotion of the product life cycle concept with suppliers
- Supervision and continuous training of food technologist assistants and food technologists
- Shared responsibility for the emergency line
- Mission of Quality Assistance at the customer possible
- Location : Mainly the Diegem office though occasional travel is to be expected in the role.

**YOUR PROFILE**:

- A Bachelor's degree in Dietetics and a minimum of 5 years of experience or a Master's degree in Engineering with a minimum of 2 years of experience are required for the position.
- Passionate and motivated by the wide array of food and nutritional aspects (compliance, quality, regulatory, labelling activities).
- In depth and up to date knowledge of Belgian regulations
- Inspecting and evaluating the quality of products, knowledge of EU food legislation is an asset.
- Experience in Food / large retailers is an asset.
- Experience or knowledge of IT tools (Trace One, K.Retail, Traqtion...) is an asset.
- Precise and rigorous aptitude - Working autonomy - Critical mind.
- Good communication skills.
- French speaking with good knowledge of English.
- Driving licence type B

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Experience in project management
- Team management/coaching experience
- Proactivity in continuous process improvement
- In-depth knowledge of NSF and client procedures (Carrefour, etc.)
