**About the role**

Our subsidiary in Bastogne is in the process of setting up analytical capabilities for Quality Control and Development purposes. You will enforce the current staff of 7 employees, which is expected to extend to 12-15 persons over the next years.

As Analytical Specialist you will take lead in setting up and documenting local analytical capabilities for characterisation of the raw materials used and the final product with regard to nutritional value, legal requirements, customer specifications and contaminants (infant food grade)
To do this, next to your own capabilities, you can rely on the expertise and proven practise available in the wider AAK-Group.

**Responsibilities**
- Your first focus will be to become acquainted with the theoretics of fats and oils chemistry and the related analytical methodologies for determination of Fatty Acids composition (GLC), the follow up of oxidative parameters (POV, AV, Rancimat), the determination of Triglycerides (GLC) and Phospholipids (HPLC).
- With the support of the QA-lead and Project engineer, you’re in charge of the lay-out and the equipment of the newly constructed analytical laboratory. Making the inventory of the available equipment and define the extra equipment to be purchased.
- You will set up the analytical methodologies and thoroughly validate the accuracy of the results by means of AAK’s sister companies and external laboratories.
- You will become the routine analysist for production in Bastogne (Phospholipids and INFAT blending)
- You are responsible for the redaction of the Certificates of Analysis which will accompany our shipped products.
- You will the back up for the QA-leader for the collecting and shipping of QC samples to the respective external labs, the reception, registering and validation of the analytical results against the specifications.
- You will organise and perform the analytical follow up of the water treatment station.

Depending on the business needs and your own capabilities and interests you might also assist to:

- The setting up and performing of trials and analysis in the context of project for continuous improvement (customer questions and concerns, environmental impact, efficiency,)
- Assisting to set up and performing of trials in the context of New Product Development. (Customer Innovation) Possibly also on the pilot-plant solvent extraction Unit.
- Assis to the implementation and maintenance of the Quality & Food safety Management System FSSC22000 (internal auditing, reviews,)

**About you**

You are capable and willing to take up a wide variety of tasks in a context of a business in development where not all supporting services are yet present. Hence you are flexible, disciplined, and self-organising.

You have the maturity to organise your (analytical) work to a larger extend on your own initiative and insight.

Qualifications and skills
- You hold a BSc in Chemistry or equivalent/higher education and/or experience.
- You have proven experience in analytics of fats and oils.
- You are an experienced user Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- You have a feeling/formation for food manufacturing (food safety, hygiene, GMP)
- You are interested / experienced in process technology
- You are fluent in French and have a good working knowledge of English. Dutch is a plus.
- You are living max. 1-hour travel from Bastogne or prepared to move into the region.
