- Introduction to Position_

The school nurse manages, delivers, promotes and delegates health care to students on campus and employees of ISB during the school day.

The position belongs to the School Health Services and reports to the Director of Operations.

**_Key accountabilities_**:
**_First main accountability _**:

- Provide, coordinate and facilitate nursing services to students who become ill or injured at ISB throughout the school day.
- Provide, coordinate and facilitate nursing services to ISB employees in case of accident or in case of emergency throughout the school day.
- Assist with maintaining a safe physical, emotional and social school environment.
- Mental Health services - promote and develop helping relationships using strategies of assessment, intervention, and referral.
- Promote health education within the school community through appropriate education programmes.
- Collaborate in setting school procedures related to health and safety, working closely and communicating with the health and safety office.

**_Second main accountability_**:

- Develop policies and procedures for illness/injury prevention and intervention, including crisis management.
- Develop health plans and services for students with disabilities and/or health conditions that interfere with learning.
- Supervise staff providing nursing procedures.
- Act as school/community/health care provider liaison.
- Recommend health curriculum and activities to promote health and prevent consequences of risk taking behaviour.
- Maintain confidential medical records for each student.

**_Key competencies and qualifications_**:

- Registered nurse with a Bachelor’s degree and valid nursing license
- A valid work permit if needed
- FA/CPR/AED Instructor qualifications
- Previous pediatric experience a must. Emergency room experience is an advantage
- Computer skills
- Proficiency in English. Knowledge of French and/or Dutch is an advantage
- Teaching skills for the delivery of health education to students
- Flexibility and team-player with a can-do attitude
- Comfortable with children aged 2 ½ to 19
- Desire to work in a dynamic international community (excellent interpersonal and intercultural skills)
