SCK CEN aims to establish itself as a leading research centre of excellence in heavy liquid metal technology, particularly within the context of developing advanced lead fast small modular reactors (SMR-LFR). Our vision involves constructing an SMR-LFR demonstrator at the SCK CEN site, a project that promises innovation and challenges at a grand scale. To achieve this, we are investing in conducting intensive, high-quality research that pushes the boundaries of current knowledge and technology.

Key Responsibilities:

- thermodynamic database development: establish and maintain a comprehensive database containing corrosion products, fission products, and activation products
- modelling of chemical reactions and transport: develop sophisticated models to simulate reaction kinetics, transport phenomena, and the release mechanisms of radioisotopes within the coolant system.

**Wat onze pioniers zeker nodig hebben**:

- Master or PhD in engineering science, preferably in Chemistry, Material Sciences or a related field
- expertise in physical chemistry and thermochemical modelling
- demonstrated experience in numerical modeling and simulation
- familiarity with nuclear reactor technologies, particularly with regard to coolant systems
- experience with thermodynamic software such as HSC Chemistry, Thermo-Calc, FactSage, etc. and programming skills are assets
- strong analytical skills, coupled with the ability to collaborate in multidisciplinary teams
- excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate complex technical information clearly and concisely
- able to thrive in an international, highly skilled environment.
