Job Overview

SANDER seeks a seasoned Network Security Engineer to lead the management of Firewall policies on Juniper and Palo Alto Firewalls. As a critical member of our security team, you will oversee the entire lifecycle of Firewall rule modifications, ensuring seamless network traffic control and compliance with strict security standards.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Analyze and validate Firewall rule modification requests from various stakeholders, guaranteeing that changes align with organizational security best practices and governance requirements.
  2. Implement rule modifications on Juniper and Palo Alto Firewalls using Panorama, maintaining the integrity of our network infrastructure.
  3. Conduct thorough assessments and tests before deploying new or modified rules to prevent potential security risks and ensure optimal performance.
  4. Evaluate and optimize existing rules to eliminate redundancy, improve efficiency, and reduce the attack surface.
  5. Utilize AlgoSec for advanced analysis and dependency management to streamline the rule lifecycle process.
  6. Prioritize security audits and contribute to continuous policy improvements to maintain the highest level of security maturity.
  7. Maintain detailed documentation of all changes and configurations to facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration among team members.
  8. Develop and deliver training sessions to enhance the skills of your peers in Firewall management best practices, promoting a culture of shared expertise.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in Firewall administration and rule management (Juniper and Palo Alto).
  • Detailed knowledge of centralized policy management through Panorama.
  • Familiarity with AlgoSec is an advantage but not mandatory.
  • In-depth understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP) and perimeter security concepts.
  • Hands-on experience with Firewall change request management using Ritm.
  • Proficiency in ITSM processes, specifically ServiceNow or similar platforms.
  • Experience with security audits and adherence to industry compliance best practices.
