Afarax is looking for a freelance Data Governance Expert to join their team in the banking sector.

Key Responsibilities:
  • You will contribute to structuring data exchange within the organization, ensuring seamless collaboration among stakeholders.
  • You will collect metadata requirements from various stakeholders, including business leaders, IT architects, and data engineers, to drive data governance initiatives.
  • You will establish a version control system for centralized EDM guidelines, ensuring consistency and accuracy.
  • You will work with the EDM squad to develop roadmaps for EDM projects, driving the practice forward and promoting best practices.
  • You will guide stakeholders in adhering to centralized guidelines, providing training and support as needed.
  • You will monitor the quality and progress of the EDM practice, identifying areas for improvement.
  • You will facilitate workshops and meetings as required, promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • You will integrate the EDM practice into the broader data governance context, incorporating industry standards and best practices.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in IT or Business Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in English, with the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of Dutch or French, depending on stakeholder interactions.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in data governance and data management.
  • Strong understanding of top-down and bottom-up data modelling, including conceptual, logical, and physical models.
  • Familiarity with data governance concepts, including metadata management, data quality, and data lineage.
  • Ability to train stakeholders, develop modelling guidelines, and create supportive deliverables.
  • Experience with data products, data mesh, and API design.
