Magnus Energy is seeking a highly skilled Principal Consultant European Energy Markets to join our team in Brussels. This challenging role involves delivering high-quality analysis of the financial aspects of energy markets, strategies and questions related to investment and commercialisation. As a lead consultant, you will draft proposals for clients, train team members, and bring structure and knowledge to our new Belgian hub to accelerate the energy transition.
We are looking for someone with an MSc or PhD in Energy Economics, Finance, or a similar field. You should have a solid understanding of electricity markets, including their functioning, design, and dynamics, as well as relevant market developments in Europe and investment and hedging instruments such as PPAs and CfDs. Experience with creating leads and taking ownership of complete assignments from defining scope with clients, creating proposals, and successfully presenting outcomes is also essential.
Around 10 years of experience in economic electricity market analysis, a strong network within the European energy landscape, and professional fluency in English (minimum C1) are required. Preference will be given to candidates who are fluent in Dutch and/or French, another European language, and have a visa/permit to work in the Netherlands or another EU country. Additional languages are a plus.
The ideal candidate will have a high degree of autonomy, project management skills, motivation to get things done, and a proactive problem-solving attitude. They should also be able to make new and maintain professional relationships, have affinity with business diplomacy/stakeholder management within the European context, and possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Data visualisation and data analysis tools like PowerBI, R, Python, or similar are a plus, as is knowledge of sector coupling (gas, hydrogen, mobility).
