Business Functional Analyst

Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced Business Functional Analyst to join an established team and help translate business needs into effective technology solutions.

In this role, you will work closely with business stakeholders, Project Managers, IT teams, external partners and vendors to understand business challenges, clarify requirements and support the successful delivery of functional solutions.

You will play a key role throughout the project lifecycle, from initial analysis and requirements gathering to solution design, testing, implementation and post-go-live support.

You combine strong analytical and communication skills with a pragmatic mindset. Beyond documenting business requests, you seek to understand the underlying needs, challenge assumptions constructively and contribute to defining the right solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Business & Functional Analysis

Facilitate workshops, interviews and working sessions with business stakeholders to understand objectives, challenges and requirements.
Analyse and document current and future business processes, business rules, data flows and system interactions.
Challenge business requests where appropriate and translate needs into clear functional requirements, user stories, use cases and acceptance criteria.
Assess impacts, dependencies and risks, ensuring alignment between business objectives, technical feasibility and project scope.

Functional Design & Documentation

Create process models, functional design documents, data mappings, mock-ups and prototypes where needed.
Support solution design and collaborate closely with development, architecture, vendor and testing teams to define fit-for-purpose solutions.
Maintain clear functional documentation and requirement traceability throughout the project lifecycle.

Bridge Between Business & IT

Act as a key point of contact for functional questions throughout design, development, testing and implementation.
Work closely with Project Managers, Developers and Test Engineers, supporting scope clarification, impact assessments, dependencies and requirement-related risks.
Ensure that decisions and requirements are clearly understood across business and IT teams, from initial analysis through deployment.

Testing & Validation

Prepare functional test scenarios and support regression testing and User Acceptance Testing (UAT), in collaboration with the Test Engineer.
Support business users during UAT and validate that delivered solutions meet agreed business and functional requirements.
Analyse defects and root causes with business and technical teams and contribute to appropriate corrective actions.

Continuous Improvement

Proactively identify process improvements, automation opportunities and system enhancements.
Support change and rollout activities, including documentation, training materials and business readiness where required.
Contribute to roadmap discussions and help shape the evolution of the application landscape.

Required Experience & Skills

Professional Experience

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
3-5 years of experience in a Business Analyst, Functional Analyst or similar analytical and process-oriented IT project role.
Proven experience in requirements analysis, functional design or software implementation.
Hands-on experience with business process modelling and functional documentation, including use cases, user stories and acceptance criteria.
Experience supporting end-to-end solution delivery.

Technical & Functional Knowledge

Familiarity with tools and systems such as:

Azure DevOps
Confluence
ERP solutions
Microsoft 365

Comfortable working with data-related concepts, integrations and APIs.
Ability to understand business processes and translate them into clear functional requirements.
Experience supporting testing and validation activities.
