For one of our clients, a leading insurance company in Belgium, we are currently looking for a Non-Life Underwriter to strengthen their underwriting team. This position combines technical underwriting expertise, risk assessment and broker relationship management. You will play a key role in evaluating insurance risks, negotiating policy conditions and contributing to the profitable growth of the portfolio while delivering an excellent level of service to brokers and clients. Your Role As a Non-Life Underwriter, you will be responsible for assessing, pricing and underwriting insurance risks across several business lines, including Motor, Property and Liability insurance. Working closely with brokers, you will provide tailored insurance solutions while balancing commercial objectives with sound risk management. Risk Assessment & Underwriting Assess insurance applications by analysing the level of risk presented. Determine appropriate underwriting conditions and premium levels. Make underwriting decisions in line with internal guidelines and risk appetite. Ensure an appropriate balance between profitability, customer needs and portfolio quality. Portfolio Management Manage and monitor an existing Non-Life insurance portfolio. Maintain portfolio profitability through regular reviews and underwriting adjustments. Identify opportunities to retain existing business and support portfolio growth. Recommend policy amendments based on changing customer needs or risk exposure. Broker Relationship Management Serve as a trusted technical advisor to insurance brokers. Provide guidance on coverage, underwriting decisions and policy conditions. Negotiate terms and pricing while maintaining long-term commercial relationships. Build strong partnerships with brokers to support new business development. Technical & Administrative Management Prepare and issue insurance quotations, policies and endorsements. Ensure the accuracy and completeness of underwriting documentation. Contribute to the continuous improvement of underwriting processes and procedures. Collaborate closely with claims, operations and other internal departments to ensure an efficient customer journey. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Insurance, Finance, Law, Economics or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. Initial experience in insurance, ideally in Non-Life Underwriting, Policy Administration or Risk Assessment. Good understanding of Property & Casualty insurance products (Motor, Property, Liability or similar). Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex risks. Customer-oriented mindset combined with strong commercial awareness. Able to work independently while contributing effectively within a team. Comfortable using Microsoft Office and insurance management systems; experience with underwriting platforms is considered an asset. Excellent command of Dutch. Good knowledge of French is a strong advantage. A permanent position within a well-established insurance company.
