After several years in finance or controlling, you know how a working capital problem can hide behind numbers that look fine on paper, until WIP and aged debt start telling a different story. You know what it takes to build a forecast that partners actually trust, and you know the difference between a KPI dashboard people glance at and one they actually use to make decisions. What you have not had yet, is a seat close enough to leadership, in the heart of Brussels, to challenge those assumptions yourself.
This is a leading international law firm, with an office network spanning multiple continents and a well-established Brussels office of several dozen legal and business support professionals. The finance function plays a central role in supporting the firm's partners and operations, and is being reinforced to strengthen financial steering and business partnering at the highest level. You report to the COO and work directly with the managing partners, with a part-time Finance Administration Officer reporting to you.
Your impact as Finance Manager
- Owning the Belgian general ledger and month-end close, the monthly management reporting cycle, and the annual budgeting process alongside a practical KPI framework
- Driving the end-to-end client-to-cash process, from WIP and billing quality through to aged debt follow-up, cash collection and working-capital discipline
- Acting as financial business partner to the managing partners, COO and practice heads, supporting pricing decisions and profitability insight by client and practice area
- Safeguarding statutory accounts, VAT, tax and audit compliance, while shaping the finance operating model, systems and controls for the Belgian office
- Leading and mentoring a Finance Administration Officer, while building finance literacy across the office and coordinating with international finance colleagues
You're the person who challenges a number before it reaches the partners, not after.
