h3About the EFTA Secretariat /h3 pThe European Free Trade Association (EFTA) offers the opportunity for a motivated and highly skilled professional to join the Finance team of the Administration division in Brussels as a Finance Officer. Here, you will be part of an organisation based on professionalism, cooperation, trust, responsibility and respect. /p pThe EFTA Secretariat serves the four EFTA States – Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland – and has offices in Geneva, Brussels and Luxemburg. /p pThe Administration Division (ADM) provides internal services and support to the whole organisation, including in the fields of facilities management, finance, human resources and information technology. /p h3Key information /h3 ul liDivision: Administration Division /li liLocation: Brussels /li liType/Duration of appointment: Fixed term three years. If considered desirable and in the organisation’s interest, an additional three-year contract may be offered. /li liStart date: As soon as possible, and no later than 1 March 2027 /li liJob reference: VA 18/2026 /li liThis position is open to nationals of the EFTA States (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland). /li /ul h3Job description /h3 pThe position entails hands‑on responsibility for financial control and reporting. The Finance Officer is also expected to be able to lead improvement initiatives within the Administration division. /p h3Responsibilities /h3 ul liFinancial reporting and analysis /li liControlling of accounting and coordinating the year‑end closure process /li liProject management of business improvement processes /li liOverseeing procurement, contract and travel management /li liActing as Head of Finance when necessary /li /ul pThe financial officer will be a part of the financial department within the administration division and reports directly to the Head of Finance. The department consists of four staff members; the Head of Finance, the Finance Officer and two Finance Coordinators. The financial department is responsible for the financial management of the organization with offices in Brussels, Luxemburg and Geneva, as well as EFTA’s Financial Mechanism Office. /p h3Essential skills /h3 ul liMaster’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or other relevant fields /li liAt least five years of relevant work experience in the fields of financial management, accounting, controlling, audit, and/or consulting /li liSolid understanding of accounting, controlling, and reporting /li liSound knowledge of and experience in using at least one accounting software package, and excellent command of MS Excel /li liStructured and analytical mindset /li liFluency in written and spoken English /li liExcellent interpersonal skills, engaged, highly motivated, and able to take initiative /li /ul h3Ideal skills /h3 ul liConsulting experience of 2+ years is an advantage /li liExperience with payroll would be an asset /li liExperience in public procurement would be an asset /li liExperience with MS Dynamics 365 Finance and Power BI (Power Query, Power Pivot, etc.) /li liExperience as superuser in IT systems and/or experience with implementing systems. /li liExperience in project management and leading business improvement processes /li liExperience working in an international environment /li liSelf‑reliance, autonomy and a proactive approach /li /ul h3Employment terms /h3 pEFTA has a dynamic and diverse work environment with the opportunity to work in a team of highly qualified people. salary:
EUR 112,786.56 /p pAppointments are normally made at the first step of the grade. The Secretary‑General reserves the right to appoint a candidate at a level different from that advertised. EFTA is an international organisation, and the salaries and related payments are normally exempt from income taxation by the EFTA Member States and in the host states of the EFTA duty stations.
