Back-End Software Engineer

- Development of back-end website applications.
- Integration of user-facing elements developed by front-end developers with server-side logic.
- Implement core business logic.
- Design and implementation of data storage solutions.
- Apply data and security best practices, including input validation, authentication/authorization, secure storage, compliant logging, and monitoring.
- Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability.
- Design and develop APIs.
- Participate in the design and creation of scalable software solutions.
- Maintain code integrity and organization.
- Write clean, functional back-end code.
- Compile and analyze data, processes, and code to troubleshoot issues and identify areas for improvement, including setting up and querying monitoring tools.
- Perform unit and integration testing, debug, fix, and validate code changes.
- Deliver solutions that fulfill functional and non-functional requirements while aligning with user expectations.
- Write and maintain technical documentation.
- Configure cloud services for back-end functionality (e.g., serverless functions, storage accounts, managed Kubernetes).
- Develop and maintain services and business logic using one or more back-end programming languages.
- Implement authentication and authorization mechanisms to secure APIs and services.
- Write and maintain unit and integration tests, ensuring code quality and reliability, and integrate them into CI/CD pipelines. Specific Expertise and Technologies
- Proficiency in back-end development languages such as Java and PHP, with experience in frameworks such as Spring Boot, Hibernate, and Node.js.
- Strong understanding of the web development lifecycle, programming techniques, and development tools.
- Experience with Application Performance Monitoring (APM) tools such as Dynatrace, Splunk, and Elastic APM.
- Knowledge of OpenTelemetry for metrics, logs, and traces.
- Proficiency in relational databases including PostgreSQL, Oracle, and MySQL, with the ability to write complex SQL queries and understand database design principles.
- Knowledge of NoSQL document stores such as MongoDB, CouchDB, and CosmosDB, including consistency and performance trade-offs.
- Experience with Git workflows (GitFlow, trunk-based development) and understanding of legacy systems using SVN.
- Experience designing, building, and securing RESTful APIs and web services, including OpenAPI/Swagger documentation.
- Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Understanding of authentication and authorization standards and protocols, including OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC), and JWT. Minimum Level of Expertise
- Junior Certifications (Optional) One of the following certifications, or an equivalent, is considered an asset:
- AWS Certified Developer – Associate
- Microsoft Azure Developer Associate
- Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) Skills
