A project is not finished when it is delivered. It is
finished when operations can run it. A multinational defence
organisation in Mons runs an operations centre that inherits every
new system its projects build. You would sit at that handover
point: agreeing up front what "ready for operations" means,
checking deliverables against it, and chasing what is missing until
the service can genuinely take over. Fully on site, in secured
areas. What you would be doing Joining projects early, when
operational requirements and support models are still being agreed,
and making sure the operations view is heard Writing and
maintaining the acceptance criteria a project must meet before it
moves into service Reviewing project deliverables and documentation
against those criteria, with clear comments and recommendations
Tracking transition actions, dependencies and open items, and
following them up until they close Keeping the stakeholders on both
sides informed and engaged, and stepping in for senior colleagues
when needed What you would bring Hands-on experience implementing
ITIL service operations processes, ideally in an operations centre
Time in a large organisation with matrix structures Comfort
analysing business processes, writing business documentation and
judging whether a process change is workable Solid grounding in
telecommunications, network and IT solutions Vocational training
plus two years of relevant experience, or secondary education plus
four Nice to have: PRINCE2 or Agile PM, ITIL Foundation, ITIL CSI
or Six Sigma Green Belt, business analysis credentials, and
experience in mixed military and civilian teams Why this one is
worth a look It is the role that decides whether new capability
actually works on day one, with a standing framework behind it
rather than a one-off project.
