The role: BI Specialist / Data Visualisation Consultant You are an experienced consultant who can transform complex data into clear, actionable insights and compelling visualisations. You translate business needs into high-quality data solutions. You bring structure: definitions, models, principles, and dashboards that are correct, performant, and easy to adopt. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical skills with expertise in business intelligence, data visualisation, and stakeholder engagement. What you’ll do
- Analyse business needs and translate them into data models and KPI definitions
- Contribute end-to-end to BI initiatives:
- data platform design/implementation, ETL, dashboard development & maintenance
- Help establish and apply BI standards (governance, definitions, “single source of truth”)
- Engage with stakeholders: advise, align, challenge assumptions, and guide decisions
- Stay on top of BI/DataViz evolutions and share knowledge within the team You are someone who…
- Takes ownership and enjoys solving problems end-to-end (that is why we are also looking for freelance colleagues)
- Communicates clearly with both business and technical stakeholders
- Works well in a team, while also being able to deliver independently
- Cares about quality: correctness, performance, maintainability, and clarity Skills we’re looking for Must-have
- Experience with data platform and data modelling
- Solid understanding of data architecture
- Strong affinity with BI & data visualisation (dashboards that drive action)
- Strong data analysis and business intelligence experience, with the ability to translate business questions into meaningful data-driven insights.
- Strong expertise in data visualisation, with a proven ability to present complex information in a clear, intuitive, and user-friendly way.
- Any experience with visualization tools such as Power BI (including DAX, Power Query) or similar tools like Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC), Tableau
- Strong SQL skills
- Good understanding of data modelling, including dimensional modelling, star schemas, measures, KPIs, and semantic/data models.
- Experience developing dashboards and reports, including interactive dashboards, management reporting, operational reporting, and self-service BI solutions.
- Ability to translate business requirements into BI solutions, including defining KPIs, metrics, dimensions, reporting requirements, and user journeys.
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to identify trends, patterns, correlations, and business opportunities from data.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including the ability to challenge requirements, ask the right questions, and guide stakeholders towards effective data-driven solutions.
- Experience in requirements gathering and business analysis, including workshops, interviews, KPI definition, and translating business needs into technical specifications. Nice-to-have
- Experience with semantic models, and performance optimisation.
- Experience implementing self-service BI and governed analytics.
- Knowledge of data storytelling and UX/UI principles for dashboards.
- Experience with statistical analysis, forecasting, or predictive analytics.
- Knowledge of cloud data platforms such as Azure, AWS, Oracle or Google Cloud.
- Experience working with large-scale enterprise data environments.
- Relevant BI, analytics, cloud, or data certifications. Languages
- Fluent in Dutch or French, with a strong knowledge of English
