CONTEXT

Within MSF OCB (Operational Center Brussels), the Finance Department collaborates and partners with different departments and units throughout OCB and other sections. This way, we want to provide financial expertise that promotes and supports MSF's social mission into the future.

Within the Finance Department, the Field Accounting Controllers Unit controls the project’s accounts and their consolidation in our HQ accounting system.

Under the supervision of the Field Accounting Coordinator, you are, as Field Accounting Controller Assistant, responsible for the reconciliation of intermediate advance balance sheet accounts and the point of contact for advances accounting-related questions. You monitor the related financial risk and report at headquarters level the quality of accounting in the projects and its compliance with MSF OCB policies and procedures.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Accounting

Review the monthly accounting entries related to intermediate advance balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy, completeness and compliance with organisational standards & procedures

Reconcile intermediate advance accounts between headquarters and the projects

Identify accounting discrepancies and issue corrective actions and recommendations in case of non-compliance or identified weaknesses, in collaboration with the Field Accounting Controllers

Serve as HQ focal point for projects’ advance accounting-related questions and issues

Finance

Prepare and issue monthly financial reports related to advances made in the projects

Evaluate the financial risk related to the management of advances within MSF OCB

Enhance the end-to-end process of advances in collaboration with the Finance Applications Support Unit

You may also be asked to undertake additional ad hoc activities or tasks to support other members of the FAC team.

REQUIREMENTS

Education

Degree in Accounting or Economic Sciences

First experience or internship in accounting or controlling is an asset

Competency

Computer skills: MS Office, Advanced Excel, Accounting software, Data reporting tool

Good analytical skills with a solution-oriented mind

Communication skills: active listener, sense of diplomacy with cross-cultural awareness

Ability to work in a team and navigate in a multi stakeholder changing environment

Autonomous and self-organized

Languages

Written and spoken knowledge of English and French is mandatory

CONDITIONS

Location: Brussels (Belgium)

Due to legal administrative constraints, given the duration of the contract, candidates must already have the permanent right as Belgian or EU national, and/or valid work permit with mention of ‘Unlimited access to the labor market’ to work in Belgium

Contract type: fixed-term contract of 1 year – Full-time

Salary according to MSF-OCB HQ grid
