Every big service programme needs one person the customer actually calls. This is that person.
You would be the account manager for a multinational defence organisation's service portfolio in Brussels, Belgium — the primary interface for service discussions, strategic engagement and escalation, with project managers holding the operational detail underneath you.
What you would be doing
- Owning the business intake and watching price proposals through their development
- Managing and communicating progress on every request to the sponsors who paid for it, right through the life of the project
- Sitting in the regular review meetings on programme and change status
- Running the highlight reporting process, including project closure, and making sure the reports actually go out on time
- Coordinating with the customer so purchase orders arrive when they should
- Working with finance so invoices go out against what was agreed
- Holding the relationships — sponsors and internal stakeholders alike — and resolving issues before they become escalations
- Answering sponsor and customer requests, making sure each lands with the right people and gets a timely reply
What you would bring
- An MSc or BSc in a related subject with five years of related experience — or, exceptionally, a lower qualification with demonstrable ability, relevant experience, or operational military service
- Real working knowledge of project and service management in a comparable organisation
- Project management and in-service support planning in a business or military setting
- Experience across the development or acquisition, delivery and sustainment of major command and control systems or programmes
- Preparing and promoting service proposals, and seeing them through
- Proven customer relationship management
- Communication that stands up in a briefing room and on paper — clear, concise reports
- Confident with Microsoft Office and planning tools
Nice to have
- Account management in a business or military organisation with defence relevance
Why this one is worth a look
It is a genuinely senior customer-facing seat: you would own the relationship rather than report into someone who does.
