Health & Safety Lead A leading construction organisation is seeking an experienced and influential Health & Safety Lead to drive the highest standards of safety performance across all projects. This senior role is critical in supporting managers, staff, and contractors to meet their safety responsibilities and in advancing the organisation’s commitment to zero tolerance for incidents and occurrences. Role Overview The Health & Safety Lead will act as a key advisor and strategic partner to project teams and senior management. You will oversee the implementation of the Group Safety Management System, strengthen safety culture, and ensure robust compliance across all operational activities.

Key Responsibilities
- Safety leadership — Provide authoritative guidance and hands‑on support to ensure full implementation of the Group Safety Management System.
- Competent person oversight — Support the appointment of competent individuals for critical safety roles and collaborate with managers and trainers to identify and deliver training needs.
- Risk management — Ensure comprehensive risk assessment processes are established, communicated, implemented, and continuously monitored.
- Operational safety monitoring — Oversee the effectiveness of procedures for lifting operations, temporary works, inductions, fire and emergency arrangements, permits, and other project‑specific safety controls.
- Safety committee leadership — Participate in establishing and maintaining safety committees across projects.
- Third‑party risk control — Ensure risks to third parties and other contractors are identified, understood, and appropriately actioned.
- System development — Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of the Group‑wide Safety Management System.
- Regulatory compliance — Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of relevant legislation and liaise with safety managers, organisations, and trade associations.
- Incident investigation — Lead or support thorough accident and incident investigations, identifying root causes and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
- Performance reporting — Prepare and deliver clear reports on health and safety performance to senior managers.
- Stakeholder engagement — Communicate effectively with directors, operations managers, project managers, and project teams.
- Safety culture promotion — Champion the organisation’s health and safety values to staff, contractors, and clients. Qualifications & Experience
- Degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety or a related discipline.
- 4+ years’ experience in construction health and safety, ideally in a senior or lead capacity.
- Strong understanding of construction safety regulations, compliance frameworks, and best practices.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills.
- High attention to detail, proactive mindset, and strong leadership capability.
