h3bAbout TechWolf and the AI team /b /h3 pTechWolf is on a mission to make work better and fairer for millions of people by powering the shift from jobs to skills as a framework to model talent. Our enterprise software uses AI to provide the skill data needed to power that transformation, for some of the largest employers in the world. /p pAI is not a feature in our product; it is the product. Our AI team owns everything from research through end-to-end production deployment: the inference engine that turns HR and work data into skill and task profiles, and the agents that put that intelligence to work inside our customers' tools. We prioritize fair, transparent and impactful AI. /p h3bThe role /b /h3 pWe are looking for an AI Engineering Manager to lead two AI engineering teams. bAgents /b builds the agentic layer of our product: agents and integrations that let customers work with their skill data in the tools they already use. bInference /b builds the AI pipelines and models that turn raw HR, work and labor market data into high-quality skill and task profiles at enterprise scale. /p pEach team has a team lead and a group of engineers, and both are growing, with AI Engineer roles open in each. You report to our Director of AI, Jens-Joris, manage the two team leads directly, and work alongside the Engineering Managers of our Platform and Integrations domains. /p pThis is primarily a people and delivery role: you own team performance, hiring and engineering processes, not the bulk of the code. You do need the technical depth to challenge architecture decisions, judge trade-offs in AI systems, and earn the trust of strong AI engineers. /p h3bWhat you'll do /b /h3 ul lipbRaise the talent bar: /b Hire AI Engineers for both teams, give clear feedback, and run fair performance conversations. Act early on both strong and underperforming work. /p /li lipbGrow the team leads: /b Coach the leads of the Agents and Inference teams in their own leadership, so each team runs its day-to-day with growing autonomy. /p /li lipbOwn delivery: /b Make sure both teams plan realistically, flag risks early and ship predictably. Balance roadmap work, reliability, and technical debt across the two teams. /p /li lipbSet engineering standards for AI: /b Refine engineering processes for AI work specifically: evaluation before release, observability in production, cost control on LLM and inference workloads, and short loops from experiment to production. /p /li lipbConnect the teams: /b Be the bridge between your teams, Product, our Research team, and the other engineering domains, so priorities and dependencies stay aligned. /p /li lipbChallenge the architecture: /b Review system design with your teams and make sure what we build today scales to the next order of magnitude in customers and data. /p /li /ul br/ h3bWho you are /b /h3 ul lipYou have at least five years of experience building software or AI systems, with a substantial part of that shipping AI or ML to production. /p /li lipYou have at least two years of direct people management experience, including one-on-ones, coaching, hiring and performance reviews. /p /li lipYou have a deep understanding of modern AI systems: LLMs and agents, retrieval, model evaluation and MLOps. You may no longer write the code yourself, but you can work through a hard AI problem with an engineer from first principles, challenge assumptions, and help the team reach the right approach, weighing quality, cost and reliability in production. /p /li lipYou’re equally at home in software design and architecture, API design and DevOps practices (CI/CD, infrastructure as code, monitoring). /p /li lipYou have led cross-team initiatives through to delivery and know how to keep several teams aligned. /p /li lipYou explain complex technical and organisational trade-offs clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, in fluent English. /p /li lipYou care about fair, transparent and impactful AI. /p /li lipYou're based in Belgium and excited to work with the TechWolf team in our Ghent office at least three days per week. /p /li lipNice to have: you have managed team leads, or worked in a B2B SaaS company serving large enterprises. /p /li /ul h3bWhat's in it for you? /b /h3 ul lipFair competitive salaries – we benchmark our salaries yearly and pay above the market median in every role and location. /p /li lipEquity – everyone is an owner at TechWolf and can share in our success. /p /li lipHybrid working and flexible hours – make your work schedule work for you. /p /li lipHealth insurance retirement savings. /p /li lipWork from abroad 3 weeks each year. /p /li lipLearning and development opportunities. /p /li lipWalking culture – brainstorm or catch up with colleagues on a walk around the office. /p /li lipTeambuildings, social and sports activities. /p /li /ul h3bSounds like your cup of tea? /b /h3 pYou’ll join a high-performing international team working on a cutting-edge product, in a purpose-d
