About the Role

We are seeking a motivated Design & Release Engineer to become part of our Torque Transfer Engineering Team within the Product Release Center, contributing to the development and release of innovative transmission technologies. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated engineer with a strong interest in gear design, transmission systems and automotive product development. You will work alongside experienced engineers and contribute to the design, analysis, validation and continuous improvement of transmission components and systems.

Key Responsibilities

As a Design & Release Engineer, you will have the opportunity to learn, contribute and lead following activities:

- Perform the design and optimization of gear systems, including gear pairs and planetary gear trains, considering durability, efficiency, cost, and NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness) requirements.
- Ensure the timely release of robust, high-quality designs that meet project and customer requirements.
- Perform gear design and analysis using engineering software such as KISSsoft, MASTA, and LDP.
- Perform GD&T and tolerance stack-up analyses and guide CAD engineers in the development of detailed component drawings.
- Organize and lead Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews with suppliers to ensure robust and cost-effective production solutions.
- Lead development of technical requirements and specifications for transmission components and subsystems.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation required for supplier sourcing and quotation activities.
- Evaluate designs against engineering standards, best practices, and design guidelines.
- Prepare design reviews and ensure lessons learned are incorporated into future developments.
- Develop engineering calculations, simulations, and analytical studies supporting product development.
- Perform DFMEA activities and assess design robustness against potential failure modes.
- Support the development and execution of Design Validation Plan & Reports (DVP&R).
- Assist in defining test procedures, validation methods, and acceptance criteria for components and assemblies.
- Collaborate with design, CAE, manufacturing, purchasing, quality and supplier teams throughout product development.
- Release of engineering deliverables, including EBOMs, CAD models, drawings, and technical documentation.
- Deliver parts / hardware to pilot builds and provide engineering support to prototype and build activities.
- Support / lead manufacturing teams in resolving production-related technical issues.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives.
- Participate in / lead root cause investigations and problem-solving activities using methodologies such as 8D and Six Sigma.
- Support warranty and field issue investigations and contribute to corrective action development.
- Lead supplier meetings during product development, process changes, and engineering change management activities.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong interest in gear design, transmission systems, and manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of mechanical design principles and engineering fundamentals.
- Familiarity with gear design software such as KISSsoft, MASTA, or LDP is an advantage.
- Understanding of product development processes and engineering documentation.
- Knowledge of APQP tools and methodologies is considered a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Fluent in English; knowledge of Dutch and/or French is considered an asset.
