ICT Architect Expert – GIS
Location:
Antwerp, Belgium Mode of work / contract: Full-time | Hybrid | Time & Material (Framework Agreement 2022–2027) Start Date: 22/05/2026 Application Deadline: 18/05/2026 Contract Duration: Until 31/07/2026 ICT Architect Expert – GIS (Enterprise GIS Architecture in a Port Environment) We are looking for an ICT Architect Expert – GIS to contribute to the design, governance, and optimisation of enterprise GIS architecture within a complex operational environment. This role focuses on aligning business needs with scalable GIS solutions, strengthening enterprise architecture governance, and enabling reliable geospatial systems for critical infrastructure operations . Role Overview Define and govern enterprise GIS architecture standards and principles Translate business requirements into robust GIS solution architectures Act as a specialist across multiple architecture domains (data, infrastructure, application, security) Support GIS project planning, estimation, and coordination activities Guide integration between GIS platforms and enterprise IT systems Coach and support GIS teams with varying technical maturity Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture frameworks and modelling standards You will collaborate with technical teams, business stakeholders, and project leads in a complex enterprise environment .
Key Responsibilities
Design and maintain GIS enterprise architecture models Oversee integration of geospatial systems within the broader IT landscape Ensure architectural consistency across infrastructure, applications, and data layers Support delivery of GIS projects from an architecture perspective Define standards for geospatial data management (including Oracle Spatial where applicable) Apply modelling techniques such as Archimate, TOGAF, UML, and Sparx EA Facilitate communication between business and technical teams Contribute to planning, risk analysis, and project coordination Required Experience & Skills 8+ years of experience as Enterprise Architect or specialist domain architect 10+ years of GIS project management experience Strong experience with geodatabases and spatial systems Proven knowledge of architecture modelling techniques (Archimate, TOGAF, UML, Sparx EA) Strong understanding of enterprise architecture principles Ability to translate business needs into GIS solutions Experience in complex, multi-stakeholder environments Strong communication and coordination skills Fluent in Dutch (CEFR C2 level required) Nice to Have Experience in a port or maritime environment Experience coaching non-technical GIS stakeholders Knowledge of Oracle Spatial Experience in team-based project environments Understanding of business process analysis
