- Position Description /b /h3 pThe bBrussels Photonics Team (B-PHOT) /b at the bVrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) /b has been a leading player in photonics research and innovation for more than 30 years. /p pThrough its unique pilot line for extreme optics, comprising an advanced optical design platform, ultraprecision prototyping and manufacturing facilities, and a state-of-the-art optical metrology cleanroom, B-PHOT is internationally recognized for its expertise in optical modelling, fabrication, characterization, and proof-of-concept demonstration of optical modules and photonic systems. /p pB-PHOT currently brings together more than b70 experts /b, including photonics researchers, engineers, and technology specialists. To explore our facilities at the VUB Photonics Innovation Campus in Pajottegem, visit . /p pAs a bTechnical Expert CAD/CAM /b, you will play a key role in supporting the design, manufacturing, and characterization of advanced optical and opto-mechanical components. You will work closely with experienced technology experts, researchers, and industrial partners. /p pYour responsibilities include: /p ul liPreparing and optimizing design files for optical, mechanical, and opto-mechanical components using CAD/CAM software environments, and supporting the transition from design to manufacturing. /li liOperating advanced fabrication technologies, including 5-axis ultraprecision milling and polishing machines, diamond machining equipment, injection moulding systems, and/or hot embossing replication technologies. /li liSupporting the fabrication and prototyping of high-precision optical and opto-mechanical components. /li liAssisting with the characterization and quality control of fabricated components using advanced metrology equipment, including profilers, interferometers, and other precision instrumentation available in the B-PHOT cleanroom facilities. /li liContributing to the continuous optimization of fabrication and characterization workflows within the B-PHOT pilot line. /li /ul h3b3
