1/ ABOUT THE ROLE

Our client is a leading Belgian Property & Casualty insurer operating in the Commercial Lines / Corporate segment.

As part of a multi-year transformation programme, they are modernising their insurance platforms, replacing legacy product administration and offer/contract systems with a modern API-driven target architecture.

The programme aims to:

  • Improve underwriting efficiency
  • Accelerate time-to-market for product changes
  • Improve broker and customer response times

The target architecture is built around:

  • A shared product catalogue
  • A shared decisioning layer
  • A unified API layer serving multiple front-end channels

Several legacy systems are being decommissioned in parallel as capabilities are migrated to the new platform. To support this transformation, we are looking for a Senior Business Analyst who can lead migration workstreams end-to-end, from an initial, often ambiguous brief through to a fully validated and implementation-ready solution.

2/ WHY THIS ROLE IS DIFFERENT

This is not a traditional Business Analyst position where requirements arrive fully defined.

You will be given a problem statement that may be incomplete or inaccurate and will be expected to:

  • Identify the actual business problem
  • Determine who holds the required knowledge
  • Validate assumptions
  • Build a clear and robust understanding before moving into solution definition

If you enjoy bringing clarity to complex and ambiguous situations, this role is for you.

3/ KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Investigate and redefine the underlying business problem before starting detailed analysis.
  • Identify, engage, and sequence stakeholders effectively to obtain the right information.
  • Build structured business and data models for insurance products and processes within scope.
  • Challenge and validate those models until they are robust and defensible.
  • Produce clear, structured business requirements and business rule documentation.
  • Track, manage, and resolve open questions throughout the analysis lifecycle.
  • Present findings, recommendations, and analysis outcomes to stakeholders and sponsors.
  • Ensure the quality and completeness of your own deliverables before submission.

4/ REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

Must have

  • Senior Business Analyst experience (typically 5+ years) in complex systems transformation or process change programmes.
  • Strong experience with structured business modelling and/or data modelling (UML, object-oriented modelling, or comparable methodologies).
  • Experience documenting business requirements and business rules using structured and unambiguous formats.
  • Fluency in French and English.
  • Ability to work independently with incomplete information and uncover the real business requirement.

Nice to Have

  • Insurance industry experience, ideally Property & Casualty or Commercial/Corporate Lines.
  • Experience in legacy-to-target migrations or platform decommissioning programmes.
  • Dutch language skills.
  • Experience with formal business rule notation and/or requirements engineering frameworks.

5/ WORKING ENVIRONNEMENT

  • High autonomy with ownership of dedicated workstreams.
  • High trust and high accountability culture.
  • Well-established delivery processes, documentation standards, and quality controls.
  • Structured environment that values analytical rigour and evidence-based decision making.

6/ TECHNICAL ENVIRONMENT

  • Insurance product, activity and clause modelling.
  • Product hierarchies, eligibility rules and coverage structures.
  • Current-state / target-state architecture and capability mapping.
  • Formal business rule authoring.
  • Internal knowledge management tools for tracking decisions, models and open questions.
  • Documentation produced primarily in Microsoft Word.
