About the Role

We are looking for an Experienced Functional Analyst to join a dynamic Agile/Scrum software development environment supporting business-critical applications for real-time railway traffic management in Belgium.


The team is responsible for approximately 20 internally developed and maintained Java applications, some of which feature Eclipse RCP and/or Angular frontends. These applications support essential operational activities, including traffic management, centralized incident management, and the calculation of train positions across the railway network.

As a Functional Analyst, you will act as the key interface between business stakeholders and IT development teams. You will be responsible for understanding and formalizing business needs, translating functional requirements into actionable solutions, and supporting development teams throughout the software delivery lifecycle.


Key Responsibilities

  • Gather, analyze and formalize business and functional requirements.
  • Work closely with Product Owners, developers and other stakeholders to define appropriate IT solutions.
  • Translate functional requirements into a prioritized product backlog.
  • Collaborate with the Product Owner on the creation and refinement of user stories.
  • Support developers in understanding and implementing functional requirements.
  • Facilitate Agile workshops and Scrum ceremonies.
  • Define, prepare and coordinate functional testing activities.
  • Validate software deliveries together with business users.
  • Analyze incidents and coordinate the follow-up of resolutions.
  • Support the prioritization of corrections and problem resolution.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date functional documentation.
  • Act as a central point of contact regarding the functional behavior of the applications.
  • Facilitate clear communication between business stakeholders, Product Owners, developers and other project stakeholders.
  • Contribute actively to Agile/Scrum projects and the continuous improvement of the team's working practices.


Required Experience and Technical Skills


Functional Analysis and Agile

  • Minimum 5 years of practical experience as a Functional Analyst in a software development environment.
  • Minimum 5 years of practical experience with Agile/Scrum in software development.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in incident analysis, resolution follow-up and prioritization of corrective actions.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience translating functional requirements into a prioritized product backlog.
  • Minimum 5 years of practical experience with Jira Agile and Confluence.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience facilitating Agile ceremonies and workshops.
  • Minimum 2 years of practical experience with Xray.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with databases and Hazelcast.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with Java tools and SQL databases.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with TIBCO RDV (Rendezvous).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with containerization and orchestration platforms such as Docker, Kubernetes and OpenShift.


Education

  • Higher education degree in Computer Science / IT, at least at Bachelor's level.


Language Requirements

  • French or Dutch: C2 level.
  • The other of French or Dutch: C1 level.
  • English: C1 level.
