Location: Brussels, Belgium – On-site
Contract Type: Freelance / Time & Materials

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Database Architect to join a DevSecOps environment and support the design, development, integration, security, and optimization of enterprise database solutions.
The successful candidate will be expected to operate independently from the start of the assignment and collaborate effectively with technical teams, project stakeholders, and business users within an international environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform data analysis, data modelling, and database design.
- Design, develop, implement, maintain, and integrate database components.
- Reverse engineer existing databases and assess existing database structures.
- Develop and maintain relational and NoSQL database solutions.
- Establish database naming conventions, coding standards, and development best practices.
- Support database deployment, configuration, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
- Conduct database risk assessments, technical evaluations, and audits.
- Develop and execute database test programs.
- Support database security and release management activities.
- Prepare technical documentation, reports, and recommendations.
- Participate in project meetings and provide technical advice to project teams.
- Deliver technical and high-level presentations to business and technical stakeholders.
Required Technical Skills
- 11–15 years of relevant experience in database architecture and design.
- Strong knowledge of data modelling and database design techniques.
- Extensive experience with relational databases, particularly Oracle.
- Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Cassandra, and DynamoDB.
- Strong knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL.
- Experience with MQL and CQL.
- Knowledge of database architecture, security, development, and release management.
- Experience with Master Data Management.
- Knowledge of database development and testing best practices.
- Experience with database modelling tools such as SQL Developer Data Modeler, Hackolade, or NoSQL Workbench.
- Experience with Oracle SQL Developer.
- Experience with GitHub, ServiceNow, and Atlassian tools.
- Good understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).

Security Requirement
The successful candidate must be eligible to obtain SECRET UE/EU SECRET security clearance or an equivalent EU Member State clearance, subject to the applicable security vetting process.
Working Conditions
- Brussels, Belgium – fully on-site.
- Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day.
- Mandatory core hours: 10:00–12:00 and 15:00–17:00 Brussels time.
- Occasional work outside normal working hours may be required.
- The consultant will be responsible for daily transportation to the workplace.
