Director, Logistics Strategy

Janssen Research & Development, part of the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies, is recruiting for a Director, Logistics Strategy & Portfolio Delivery within the Clinical Supply Chain (CSC). The position can be located in Wayne, PA, Beerse, Belgium or Titusville, NJ.

CSC holds the global responsibility of all clinical supplies (API, Drug Product, Packaged and Labeled Kits) in the R&D portfolio. Our activities include all in-house and outsourced manufacturing, demand forecasting, supply planning, and global distribution of supplies to more than 145,000 patients in over 85 countries in more than 400 clinical trials every year.

This people leader role is responsible for maintaining oversight on worldwide distribution activities of clinical supplies within J&J Pharma R&D (biotherapeutics, vaccines and small molecules; for all phases of clinical trials) as part of the Clinical Supply Chain organization.

As a people manager, this individual is responsible for leading all aspects of the Logistics Integration, Temperature Management & Control (TM&C), and Logistics Strategy teams consisting of both individual contributors and people leaders.

You will be managing a global team of individual contributors and people leaders:

- Logistics Strategy Managers who are responsible for the overall distribution network and its performance, vendor management (depots and couriers), and improvement initiatives
- The Logistics Integration team lead who manages a team responsible for trial logistics set-up inclusive of defining the trial distribution network strategy, creating and maintaining trial distribution plans, trade compliance, distribution budget vs. actuals, operational issue management, and other supporting activities

You will have overall responsibility for business plan budget forecasts and management of budget for logistics services/consumables and professional services (~5MM functional budget) and you will supervise Logistics vendor governance to drive operational performance (annual OOP spend ~$100MM). You will partner with QA and Procurement organizations to escalate and resolve issues and participate in monthly/quarterly business reviews with vendors and identify strategic initiatives.

You will maintain and develop working relationships within the Clinical Supply Chain, with J&J Deliver (Distribution, Transportation, Trade Compliance), Procurement, Quality and Global Clinical Development.

**Qualifications**
- A University/Bachelor’s degree is required with a focus in engineering, business, or supply chain is preferred
- An MBA/Master's degree as well as other certifications including APICS, Project Management (PMP, FPX), or Lean are preferred
- A minimum of 10 years of supply chain and/or closely related experience within the pharmaceutical, medical devices or similar regulated industry is required.
- Experience in distribution, transportation, and/or logistics is preferred
- Solid understanding of ambient, cold, and/or frozen distribution requirements is preferred
- Ability to work in a fast-paced global environment both independently and collaboratively, act with speed, flexibility, and accountability to achieve goals while managing complexity and multiple priorities is required
- Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability for strong collaboration at various levels across the organization and with external service providers is required
- Proven track record of change management experience is preferred
- General knowledge of GxP principles is required
- GxP audit and/or vendor audit experience is preferred
- Vendor, budget, and/or project management experience is preferred
- Knowledge and understanding of clinical study needs and clinical operations is preferred
- Up to 5-10% of travel both internationally and domestically may be required
