The Laboratory of Medical Microbiology (LMM) within the Vaccine
- and Infectious Disease Institute (VAXINFECTIO) of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of the University of Antwerp, is world top in the study of antimicrobial use, resistance development, and diagnostics for infectious diseases. For many years, LMM is involved in European projects with the common goal to prepare Europe against (re-)emerging epidemics, to reduce the burden of antimicrobial resistance and to develop a European clinical network, all coordinated by Em. Prof. Herman Goossens and Prof. Surbhi Malhotra-Kumar. Projects and networks that LMM is a part of include Ecraid, VALUE-Dx, Global-PPS, and LAB-Net. The latter is a unique network of diagnostic laboratories in Europe supporting clinical trials of infectious diseases. It is part of the now ending COMBACTE-Net project and will continue to exist as a valuable legacy of that project. In order to develop the market and business case for LAB-Net and to help promote and exploit the results of our many research projects, LMM is seeking a **part-time Marketing and Communications Officer**.
**Position**
The position includes the following tasks:
- You create and implement targeted marketing campaigns and content to promote the LAB-Net network and its services;
- You help strengthen the LAB-Net brand by finding just that right balance of offline, digital and social media content;
- You help build the business case for LAB-Net;
- You look for new opportunities to amplify the potential benefits of working with LAB-Net, in Europe and globally;
- You help with the development of communication strategies to raise awareness of the LMM’s scientific projects and to distribute research results;
- You help draft and edit dynamic print and electronic communication tools including websites, brochures, posters, and newsletters;
- You will work closely with the Communications team.
**Profile**
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Marketing or Communication;
- Previous experience (e.g. internship) with the development of marketing tools and dissemination materials;
- Experience in business development is a plus;
- Experience with various digital media and how to integrate them in an effective marketing strategy;
- Excellent written and verbal skills, both in English and Dutch;
- Exceptional attention to editorial detail;
- Proficiency in MS Office;
- Ability to handle deadlines and work simultaneously on different projects;
- Willingness to travel;
- Strong proficiency in planning and organising;
- Good knowledge of Adobe is an advantage.
**What we offer**
- A part-time appointment (50 or 75%) for 1 year, with the possibility of extension after positive evaluation;
- You will receive a gross monthly salary within pay band 5.1-7.1 of the pay scales of the Administrative and Technical Staff. Your entry-level grade (usually grade 5) depends on your relevant professional experience and your profile. If you work part time, your salary is calculated proportionally on the basis of your employment percentage.
- You will receive meal vouchers, ecocheques, Internet-connectivity allowance, group insurance, an income protection insurance, and a bicycle allowance or a full reimbursement of public transport costs for commuting.
- We offer flexible working hours.
- You will have 40 days of annual leave and collective leave for 1 week when the university is closed, between Christmas and New Year.
- You will do most of your work at Campus Drie Eiken in a dynamic and stimulating working environment.
