**MSAT Geel site Value Optimizer Team Lead** (internal job title)

Janssen is recruiting a Team Lead Manufacturing Science and Technology (MSAT) - Geel site, focusing on our Small Molecule, Drug Substance, Value Optimizer portfolio located in Geel, Belgium.

The lead coordinates process engineering resources in support of our Value Optimizer (VO) portfolio and supports life cycle management strategies, technical transfers, new process technology introductions, process improvements, cost improvement project portfolio management, and overall performance tracking.

This position strongly contributes to the global Small Molecule Drug Substance (SM DS) MSAT strategy and the productivity performance of the Geel site. The Lead is a team member of Geel site MSAT leadership team and is expected to have a strong cross functional collaboration mindset. The key responsibilities are as follows:
**Key Responsibilities**:

- Lead a team of Geel based Process engineers to represent MSAT and the Value Optimizer portfolio.
- Take accountability as a single point of contact for all MSAT activities within the scope of the VO portfolio.
- Provide resources, strategic and technical leadership to deliver the MSAT service to meet the Geel site goals, including technical assessments, process improvements and site transfers, all in close collaboration with the global process technical owners and the Geel site production organization
- Deliver technical support in partnership with Quality on any regulatory audits and inspections.
- Partner with production on project oversight as well as day to day support (e.g. lead complex investigations, escalations).
- Monitor process and product performance, based on Continuous Process Verification (CPV)
- Works together with the other MSAT leads to optimize performance, share knowledge as to deliver value through enhanced collaboration.
- Translate the global MSAT and SM DS platform strategy into G&O’s for the site based team.
- Works with the global technology, data and development functions to design specific technology solutions for optimized synthesis processes.
- Works in collaboration with global reporting experts to develop and implement innovative solutions and transform our way of working to meet future standards. E.g. implement data analytical tools and automatic reporting solutions, digital twins, PAT, RTR, etc
- Create a dynamic and empowered team, strong in cross functional collaboration and assuring flexibility across the Geel site.

**Qualifications**:

- Master’s Degree or PhD preferably in Chemical engineering or process technology (bioengineering, industrial engineering or chemistry), or proven record in an industrial, operational environment.
- Solid understanding of API manufacturing. Affinity and pronounced interest with data analytical tools and proven understanding in chemical synthesis.
- Ability to lead and encourage teams, strong interpersonal skills, eg influencing and handling conflicting interests.
- Able to take decisions autonomously. Strong skills in communication and a result driven personality.
- Strong analytical skills, high level of accuracy, good acumen on cost improvements.
- Owns good project management, organizing, planning and coordination skills. Experience in process excellence, lean production concepts and tools (certification is a plus).
- Develops strong collaborations with internal and external business partners.
- Big picture Orientation with attention to detail - able to operate in two ‘worlds’ at one time, sees the why as well as the what; can zoom in or out as needed.
- Working knowledge of English (both verbally and written) and Dutch (or willing to develop proficiency in Dutch)
